It's interesting... Are Bulgarian and Romanian already official languages of the EU? (The countries will join the EU only in 2007). Alensha 20:12, 26 Sep 2004 (UTC)
Catalan edit
Ooh, when did Catalan become a treaty language? -- Kaihsu 22:17, 2004 Oct 19 (UTC)
- As far as I'm aware it isn't but there are calls for it to be inlcuded (far more people speak Catalan than official languages like Slovenian and Maltese). If and when Catalan becomes official it can be added to this page but for now I have removed it. This isn't "Names of the European Union in various languages", it's official languages only. — Trilobite (Talk) 22:33, 28 Oct 2004 (UTC)
The official name of the European Union in Swedish is "Europeiska unionen", i.e. not unionen with a capital u. /Fredrik
Greek edit
The Greek name is transliterated in Ancient Greek style as Eurōpaïké Énōsē, but wouldn't Modern Greek pronunciation be Evropekí Énosi?--JWB 12:20, 26 July 2005 (UTC)
