Name issues edit
I believe a lot of these names are listed by first name-father's name-grandfather's name rather than the usual way. For example Abd al Aziz Muhsin Mahdi is Abdul Aziz al-Hakim, Nuri Kamil Muhammad is Nouri al-Maliki, etc. --Cam 04:02, 26 May 2006 (UTC)
- Sorry, by "usual" I meant "usual in the English language." I will see if I can figure out some more names this weekend. I will change the ones I am confident about and move them to the top of their coalition lists in alpha order by surname. --Cam 15:39, 26 May 2006 (UTC)
- Yes they are. This is the way they were listed by the IECI which makes it very difficult, particularly for a foreigner like me - to map it across to the names people are normally known by. If you could hlp that would be great! AndrewRT 00:41, 29 May 2006 (UTC)
- I found an Arabic-language list of the United Iraqi Alliance candidates of December 2005 with more complete names. I am figuring out who's who and will add the names of the UIA deputies when it's ready. Please note that I can't really read Arabic, I'm just familiar with the alphabet and have a good dictionary. I am using the Library of Congress authority records and the vowels of the IECI list to get the spelling of the names. --Cam 01:12, 29 May 2006 (UTC)
Hassani edit
This article here [1] from July 2007 talks about Hajim al-Hassani as being "a former speaker of parliament and a secular Sunni lawmaker" Any idea how & when he ended up in parliament as he's not listed in the original list of INL members? Did he replace someone who died?? AndrewRT(Talk) 22:58, 21 September 2007 (UTC)
- From Googling around in my limited Arabic it looks like you have it right; Hajim Mahdi Salih al-Hasani is the "Hajem Mahdi Saleh" of our original list here. He was with The Iraqis in the Transitional Assembly and is with the INL in the C of R. --Cam 03:23, 22 September 2007 (UTC)
Aida Ussayran edit
The Council's website shows a blank space in the list of INL members where Aida Sharif Tawfiq would be. [2] Aida Sharif Ussayran passed away on June 27, 2007. [3] She was a member of Iraq's parliament.[4] I tentatively conclude that the Aida Shareef Tawfeeq of our list refers to the late Aida Ussayran. --Cam 04:21, 22 September 2007 (UTC)
