Curtin Independent edit

Does Curtin Independent ([1][2][3]) count as a voices group? It has similar values to Voices groups, such as social progressive values, support for climate change action, and wants more integrity in politics, but it is not named Voices of Curtin, or something like that. Steelkamp (talk) 01:56, 16 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

According to the group, "Curtin Independent is a community group aiming to find and support an independent political candidate who is representative of the local community in the electorate of Curtin for the next Australian federal election." That sounds like something modelled on the original Voices group, Voices for Indi. I think that should be the defining criteria, not the group's policy preferences. explanation of list criteria edit

The list should have some explanation as to what criteria has been used to decide the groups included on the list - e.g. is it a list of groups that have self-identified as being inspired by "Voices for Indi"? Or a list groups that the collater has decided seem to have similar aims? Jonnosan (talk) 11:05, 28 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I feel that Voices for Indi isn't significant enough for it to have a stand alone article. If merged with this article, I feel it will provide readers with one good article rather than two average articles. - Yours Faithfully, GA Melbourne ( T | C ) 02:02, 25 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

Merger proposal edit

I propose merging Voices of Goldstein into Voices groups in Australia. I think the content in Voices of Goldstein can easily be explained in the context of Bar, and a merger would not cause any article-size or weighting problems in Voices groups in Australia.––– GMH MELBOURNE TALK 06:36, 26 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

  • Support The article is quite shorts and could easily be added here. I see no reason for Voices of Goldstein to be an independent article. JML1148 (talk | contribs) 00:19, 11 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
Y Merger complete. (but just to Voices groups in Australia). Klbrain (talk) 20:03, 12 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

Heading to list of Voices groups edit

The heading 'Voices groups and endorsed candidates at the 2022 Australian federal election' would seem to exclude groups that are arising since the 2022 election. However, this page is an important reference source for Voices groups that exist now, not just in May 2022. For example there are links here from important sources such as https://www.climate200.com.au/campaign-support Therefore I suggest the title be modified to 'Voices groups and endorsed candidates at and since the 2022 Australian federal election'. I would then feel free to list the new group that I am part of (Voices of Bean, voicesofbean.org). Fjl65 (talk) 09:54, 18 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

Yes, it does exclude groups created since then. This page tracks the story of the movement chronologically, describing the different groups that existed at different elections. Having the table cover multiple elections would make it very wide, and difficult to display on mobile devices. It's not clear if many of the groups listed in the table are currently active or will be in the future. It's hard to tell if a group has died or is hibernating between elections. Having a similar table for the 2025 federal election would make sense. But how then to represent new groups in the meantime? Certainly adding a new section underneath for the post-2022 situation is warranted. Perhaps a 2025 election table could be added now, containing groups that have announced an intent to influence it.
