Talk:List of Xiaolin Showdown characters/Archive 1

Clean Up Needed

I could have sworn I had this article marked for clean up. Oh well...

The reason I marked the article for clean up is that it is generally too large and unwieldy. I personally cannot work on it (as much as I'd like to) because it currently features information from episodes that I have yet to see. (I live in a country that lags behind the US in terms of XS episodes). The average person that knows nothing about XS will find the article undauntingly large and difficult to search for the important points.

I propose that all character entries be sub-divided into three sub-topics, Brief Character Background, Character Personality and Extra Notes. To ensure this article is smaller, most information in each character entry must be stripped out and placed in a separate character article like with Chase Young.

Each of those individual character articles must themselves be split into three sub-topics, Brief Character Background, Character Personality and Extra Notes.

By stripping out most information, this shortens the article, allowing the merger of the Minor Xiaolin Showdown characters article with this one.

At the end of every article must be placed links to ALL other Xiaolin Showdown articles. Also, each article must have the Category: Xiaolin Showdown and if it is a character article Category: Xiaolin Showdown characters attached to the end. (I will personally do that for any article I come across, so you needn't do anything about this point).

This is the way we should go about redoing this article. However, I really do need help, as I am not the best person to go about redoing this article. Wolf ODonnell 14:08, 21 December 2005 (UTC)

I'm not a member or anything, but I'll help eliminate problems if I can. One I just took care of:

'Raimundo is the Xiaolin Dragon of Wind, born in the village of Toberejo, Brazil. He is a calm, streetwise kid, the jokester of the team and though he is more self-centered than the rest, he can be quite loyal to his own friends. His signature Shen Gong Wu is the Sword of the Storm, and his Wudai weapon is the Blade of the Nebula. His elemental Wu is the Crest Of The Condor. In Time after Time (2) he is made team leader, granting him a new set of robes. Omi didnt seem happy about it at first, but he accepted the truth in the end. He is voiced by Tom Kenny.I have a crush on him!lol!'

That was on the main page. That can be a major problem...

Would it help to split this list into separate articles for Major, Supporting, and Minor characters? If not, at least split up the characters based on their involvement in the series, because the sections here are a little confusing and don't really draw a distinction between between who are frequent characters and who only appear once. On the main SS article now splits the characters section down by main and supporting, focusing on the important people for the series and it's a little more pleasant to look at. Characters that only have one or two sentences here might be better served in a Minor Characters article. Hewinsj 16:03, 12 March 2007 (UTC)

You could try redirecting any one episode characters to the episodes the appear in. It seems like that could cut the page down enough to not need a split. Nemu 17:20, 12 March 2007 (UTC)
Rearranging would probably be better than splitting at this point. Jay32183 18:55, 12 March 2007 (UTC
I removed any one shots I could find. Besides formatting and writing, it should be "clean" now. Nemu 19:52, 12 March 2007 (UTC)
Looks much better Nemu, my complements! If I have some time I'll do a bit of rearranging later, but the volume is less intimidating now. Hewinsj 20:00, 12 March 2007 (UTC)

Character?

Who is Lord Serpos mentioned in Jack Spicer and Wuya? I never heard about him in the show. Does he really exists or it's wrong information placed on the articles? - Anon

lord Serpos was created by my friend. he's supposed to be dojo's brother and Wuya's father or somthing like that. i think he stoped now. though -anon.

Firstly, please sign all entries. Secondly, I have no idea. I'm only going to receive new Season 3 Episodes in January, so I'm behind you guys. As I cannot verify the existence of this Lord Serpos, I'm going to put a dispute tag in the article. Wolf ODonnell 19:00, 24 December 2005 (UTC)
At TV.com, a user claims that Lord Serpos is their own character. Most likely the same person who added this character in the article. So if I were you, I'd assume that the information is false. Azurice 03:52, 28 December 2005 (UTC)
And he keep placing it. Someone must say to him stop it. And the Xiaolin Dragons in part 5 are real? --anon 14:23, 28 March 2006 (UTC)
I deleted the section again, since I firmly believe that Lord Seperanos is a fan-created character. If he isn't, would whoever keeps replacing the paragraph please provide us with the source (supposedly from Christy Hui) mentioned in the Article? I've seen every episode of Season 3, and most others, and there's no mention of Lord Seperanos anywhere. So without any concrete evidence of his existance, I don't think he should be on the page.
Other reasons I believe he is fan-created is because on Norm Macdonald's article there is no mention of this future roll, Wuya never made mention of any master, HRB is supposedly "the greatest evil ever known," and the plot around him would never be used by the show. Imprisoning an evil entity in a coin far too closely resembles Wuya in the puzzle box, Shen-Gong-Wu are rarely mentioned before their appearance on the show, and so much future plot information (Omi's betrayal, victories for the Heylin, etc.) would never be revealed this far in advance. As for the Jack Spicer part, I can only guess that Lord Seperanos' (cool name, I'll admit) creator is a fan. So, in conclusion (sorry about the long explanation) Lord Seperanos does not sound like a canon character and, until such time as he is proven real, should not be included in this article. User:Brian Night 01:23, 21 May 2006
I have contacted the individual who continues to place speculative information on various Xiaolin Showdown articles, particularly in regards with speculation on the fourth season (a season that may never take place). The user Card Destruction Duelist always adds this information, preceding with "Confirmed by Christy Hui" or something similar to that. I deleted the section relating to this fanmade character, which I only found (via a Google search) in Wikipedia and a TV.com fan forum for the show. That was enough information for me to delete the section the first time around. Ryulong 20:40, 22 May 2006 (UTC)

Clean Up has Started

I have currently started cleaning up this article, however, at this particular moment I'm taking a break to work on something else. If you like, you could continue the work I've been doing. Remember, that Kimiko and Raimundo need new articles to be created and they should called Kimiko (Xiaolin Showdown) and Raimundo (Xiaolin Showdown).

They should follow more or less the same template found here Omi (Xiaolin Showdown). Don't forget to put Category: Xiaolin Showdown at the end, including the See Also links. Chase Young's and Jack Spicer's articles will need similar attention.

P.S. I will resume editing sometime next week, so please don't remove the Clean Up Template.

Character Images

I myself have a huge amount of screenshots from the series, some taken by myself and some taken by others, though I don't know if it is allowed to use screenshots. If necessary, I could draw up some large images of the characters, though I'm also unsure if that is permitted. If none of that is allowed, there are also some images at www.xiaolinshowdown.com in the galleries section.

Azurice 08:50, 29 December 2005 (UTC)

Do whatever you feel is necessary, because I have very little luck with putting pictures up in articles. It would probably be best, however, for you to post pictures of the characters up in their separate articles, so as to save space. Yeah, you go ahead with whatever you have planned, as long as it doesn't increase page loading time too much. Wolf ODonnell 11:12, 29 December 2005 (UTC)

On the Sabeeny/Sibini Issue

Here's an image from an eBay store selling Xiaolin Showdown TCG cards from the expansion [1] saying the character's name is Sibini. Ryulong 19:33, 11 June 2006 (UTC)

Raimundo's hometown: Toberejo? Not realistically.

I propose that the Raimundo's actual hometown is not Toberejo but Tubarão. There is no such place as Toberejo, however, Tubarão seems to fit the show's representation of the town fairly well. It is a small city in the south of Brasil about 500-600mi (800-1000km) from Rio, located between the sea and a mountain range. It's known for its "thermal waters". The highest nearby peak (about 50mi (80km) away) is about 1,100ft (1800m) high. A river also runs through the town, coming from the north near that high peak.

Unless someone has proof that Toberejo is actually the way the show spells the name of Rai's hometown, I take serious issue with the statement. As far as I can find, Toberejo does not exist in Brasil, period. ... In fact, anywhere, period, at least in my atlas and online. A google search for it turned up nothing but Xiaolin Showdown related websites. Consider this Brasilian Portuguese Pronounciation Guide and compare how Tom Kenny (remember he's an English speaker) says the word in The Last Temptation of Raimundo Part One

If this Toberejo isn't right, this article has been spreading around some serious misinformation. I hate to see that happen to the wonderful Brasilian aspect of Raimundo. :(

Liashi 01:45, 10 January 2007 (UTC)

I'd go with the Portugese spelling. There's been a history of incorrect subtitles on Xiaolin Showdown. Since Tubarão is a real place it is probably right. Jay32183 00:47, 11 January 2007 (UTC)

Is it possible that he comes from a fictitious town? Hewinsj 04:10, 28 February 2007 (UTC)

It is possible. However, the name of the village was never spelled out on the show. The spelling in the article is based on what people heard. Tubarão in Portugese and Toberejo in Spanish are pronounced the same. I think some one just forgot they don't speak Spanish in Brazil. Jay32183 04:39, 28 February 2007 (UTC)
I considered it, frankly. But . . . I don't know, to me the similarities seem a little too coincidental. Even if there was any basis for it being Toberejo, I'd personally/secretly prefer the actual Portuguese. Remember that "Toberejo" is not a Portuguese word, period. It drives me absolutely nuts when people start making Rai speak Spanish in their fanfics . . . it's like having Kimiko speak Korean instead of Japanese. Similar sounding to the uniformed, but completely unbelievable to those who are schooled in either of the languages.
Liashi 12:57, 7 March 2007 (UTC)
Tubarão is a town at the brazilian state of Santa Catarina. Raimundo came from the state of Rio de Janeiro, as described by the TV show. This doesn't make any logic.

--201.5.41.19 (talk) 00:42, 4 February 2008 (UTC)

Actually the series states that he was born and raised in Tubarão and performed in the city of Rio de Janeiro. There's no reason to assume he stayed in one state. People born in Massachusetts try to make it big in New York all the time. Jay32183 (talk) 07:42, 4 February 2008 (UTC)
Exactly, Jay. Tubarão is his hometown, Rio is the city he loves. Liashi (talk) 02:21, 20 June 2008 (UTC)

Isn't Dojo's full name suppose to be Dojo Konojo Jojo? I watched Xiaolin Showdown ever since I was about 9 years old and I never hear a name likes Dojo Kanojo Jo. That name sounds completely wierd and funny. Fix this please! Cookie Monster 23:44, 6 June 2008 (UTC)
