Fair use rationale for Image:Nzpost-flag.gif

Image:Nzpost-flag.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

The image Image:Nzolympiclogo.PNG is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for the use in this article.
  • That this article is linked to from the image description page.

The following images also have this problem:

Proposed alternative flags

Many of the flags in this section have no source to indicate that they are in any way notable. I think the section should be limited to flags which have been actively discussed in the media as possible replacements for the New Zealand flag, and any flags which are the proposals of one person and have no indication that they are taken seriously by others should be removed as original research

Currently, two of the flags have references. Several others have references in New Zealand flag debate which could be copied here, or references should be able to be found for them.

I have removed one newly added and unsourced flag, and it may be worth adding an edit notice or html comment warning editors not to add further ones without a suitable reference.-gadfium 20:36, 26 February 2014 (UTC)

I have created the new article here. as they aren't official flags so they shouldn't really be taking up so much space here and it's confusing first I thought New Zealand has so many flags but most of then are just proposed flags. I reckon it should have its own page. Muzi (talk) 05:34, 9 March 2017 (UTC)

National Maori Flag

I moved the National Maori Flag below the NZ Flag, since the source explicitly states that it is NOT an official flag, however it can complement the national flag. Gugganij (talk) 19:32, 18 May 2015 (UTC)
