Missing species

Why is everything linked as "Missing species"? Should these be converted back to normal wikilinks, red links removed and then remove duplicate links?R00m c (talk) 01:41, 6 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Template:Missing species is merely the name of a handy template. The template provides a useful set of external links to help the reader find information about the MeSH name. This template is actualy intended for use inside certain Wikipedia proiject pages, and was "borrowed" by this mainspace page. I suspect entire list escaped inot mainspace from a project page.

No, redlinks should not be removed (see WP:RED.) Redlinks are only removed from articles when the subject should not eventually have an article. Presence in the MeSH database can be considered to be presumptive evidence of notability and verifiability.

No, duplicate links should not be removed. In lists of this nature, formatting consistency is more important than slavish adherence to a particular rule. We need to ask ourselves why a reader reached this page and what will benefit that reader. -Arch dude (talk) 18:49, 19 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

I have made major changes to this article to bring it into line with the other 100+ list-articles on the same topic. The lengthy description in the lead was mostly unnecessary since: (1) linking to Medical Subject Headings is sufficient to explain what this list is about, (2) that it relates to plants is obvious from the first section heading, and (3) the explanation of what the list is "intended" for and how to use it is an unnecessary self-reference. I have also removed the infobox since that info is already found at List of MeSH codes, and it mostly wasn't even specific to this particular "B06" sublist anyway. I've also removed all the calls to {{Missing species}} (and the "Legend" explaining same) since almost all of the terms now have existing articles (and doing so greatly simplifies the section headings and further harmonizes this list with all the others). - dcljr (talk) 07:05, 5 February 2020 (UTC)Reply
