Talk:List of King George V Playing Fields (Avon)

I wonder what exactly is meant by "Avon" in this context. Avon (county) no longer exists. William Avery 19:47, 1 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

I expect you are right. I have left a message for you on your talk page. I have no issue with getting the places in the correct county, but would appreciate knowing what it is. As you can see I am busy creating a large number of catalogue entries. Not everything will be correct. Errors will be made. I thank you for your comment, and would appreciate the rtest of the information. It is no hard thing then to edit the page, to move the page or do anything else with it. You could always be bold ad do it, too Fiddle Faddle 22:06, 1 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
"In 1996 it was split into Bath and North East Somerset, Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire unitary authorities." So you would need four pages, assuming that each had least one KGV field to be listed. What I didn't know though, is whether "Avon" still existed for adminstrative purposes in this context, perhaps a bit like Avon Wildlife Trust. See Avon: the name that refuses to die. If it's dead it's dead. It was a silly name for a county anyway, made up by parliament for some reason of its own. What I'll do is go by the AA Gazeteer behind the MAGIC maps. That way I can go wrong, but do it consistently Fiddle Faddle 12:34, 2 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
