The result of the proposal was Move to List of ISO romanizations. --WoohookittyWoohoo! 10:02, 15 August 2007 (UTC) This article should be moved to "List of ISO transliterations and transcriptions" or "List of ISO romanizations" (romanization covers both). See my added explanations under Chinese and japanese within the article. NoychoH 09:27, 3 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

This is not true, according to the articles on transliteration and transcription, which state that transcription refers to converting sound to text. Picking a kanji for a sound is transcription, but I think whether you're dealing with kanji or hiragana, what you're doing to Japanese text is still transliteration. Where used

Does the list describe the ISO standards used in modern Italy? Are the ISO standards used across all Romance languages uniformly? "Romanization" refers to Ancient Rome, but the ISO to modern Latin? Does "romanization" mean transliteration into modern Latin alphabet or any latinised alphabet?--mrg3105 (comms) If you're not taking any flak, you're not over the target. 03:11, 20 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

"Romanization" refers to transliteration into the Latin alphabet. Romance languages, ancient Rome and modern Italy are of no specific relevance. ZackMartin (talk) 09:14, 24 July 2012 (UTC)Reply
