Movies

Any idea where movies should be placed in relation with the other episodes (watching order)?--Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus Talk 19:14, 28 January 2006 (UTC)

Seasons?

I'd like to know where you got the seasons, because as far as I know, anime don't really have seasons... I would think that the best way to split them up would be by year. --KumoriKage 03:10, 26 June 2006 (UTC)

OK, since I seem to be the only one here who is actually working on this page, unless someone posts objections in the next few days, I am going to reorganize the episodes into "seasons" by year, since it is definite that the 12th season is FAR too long. --KumoriKage 15:09, 26 June 2006 (UTC)
Since it seems that nobody has any objections to the arranging of episodes by year (since the whole "production numbers" seem to be completely random) then I will edit it to follow that. KumoriKage 18:51, 3 November 2006 (UTC)

Numbering a bit off

Just got Detective Conan Part 14 vol 1 from Japan, and it has episodes 390-393 on it. According to the list, 390 is Kogoro Gets Drunk in Satsuma (part 2), however it is Metropolitan Police Detective Love Story 6 (part 1).

Dont know where the numbering goes off though. IanC 09:55, 6 June 2006 (UTC)

Found out where it went off, 085 went to 087. Fixing now. IanC 20:50, 8 June

I give up. Too long... Hvn0413 06:34, 4 August 2006 (UTC)

Unupdated American Air dates

Detective conan has aired on the FUNimation network and a couple of seasons have aired. The article claims that any episode past #29 has not yet aired in America. This needs to be fixed. Bladeroom 06:35, 3 August 2006 (UTC)

Actually, nobody is claiming it hasn't aired past that point, it's just that nobody who knows the airdates past that point has worked on them. KumoriKage 21:25, 27 October 2006 (UTC)
well somebody could mistake n/a for "not aired" or anything similar. Nicknchops 07:04, 24 November 2006 (UTC)
Ok, I found all of the dates of airing (at least as far as TV.com and several other sources are concerned). The rest are actually not aired. KumoriKage 06:51, 27 November 2006 (UTC)

Tense?

Should plot summaries be in the past or present tense? "Conan solves the case and goes home." "Conan solved the case and went home." Nicknchops 15:42, 24 November 2006 (UTC)

Present tense. It's called the "literary present tense." Basically, you speak about a plot summary in the present tense because you are currently thinking about it. Kind of like if you were writing an essay for an English class or something similar. KumoriKage 06:57, 27 November 2006 (UTC)

Are all eps so notable?

My position is the ultimate removal of individual ep articles, but it seem such views are not quite popular, so let us deal with some of these now.

Of course Roller Coaster Murder Case is notable, but, seriously, even for CC/DC fans filler episodes like The Mysterious Woman With Amnesia Case, The False Kidnapping and Hostage Case or Pet Dog John Murder Case are not notable. I wonder if we should have a consensus to remove anime originals unless proven notability... --Samuel CurtisShinichian-Hirokian-- TALK·CONTRIBS 11:15, 3 May 2007 (UTC)

  • of course i agree with you on this Samuel. There are many episodes that have individual articles without a real need. There are also other episodes that need individual articles because they are very important and contribute to the main story, like Battle Game Trap when Jodie first appears, or The Desperate Revival episodes. A J Damen 08:43, 18 May 2007 (UTC)
  • Yes i checked the episodes. Just like you said. There are no important episodes amongst them. Thanks for you hard work. A J Damen 10:43, 19 May 2007 (UTC)
Given On Location, TV Drama Murder Case has successfully deleted by an AfD, I would propose the other episodes above for deletion through PROD.--Samuel di Curtisi di Salvadori 12:21, 26 May 2007 (UTC)
After a second thought I decided to keep Ep 33 for now. It *might* have some significance even it is a filler.--Samuel di Curtisi di Salvadori 12:28, 26 May 2007 (UTC)

On Location, TV Drama Murder Case Nominated for Deletion

Per #Are all eps so notable?, I have nominated On Location, TV Drama Murder Case for deletion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/On Location, TV Drama Murder Case. Please comment on whether this article should be kept. --Samuel di Curtisi di Salvadori 13:08, 19 May 2007 (UTC)

Summaries of Episodes

I'd just like to say that several of the episodes that have been reformatted to allow summaries don't have any summaries. Or if they do, the summaries aren't adequate, etc. Please chip in! I've barely watched any of the episodes, and the ones I've watched I don't remember. If you've watched any of the episodes and remember them, the least you could do is add a decent summary. <-Winged-> 02:08, 21 August 2007 (UTC)

Most summaries on this page are more like episode introductions rather than summaries. Rezumop (talk) 23:35, 15 January 2008 (UTC)

The Shadow of the Black Organization

Seeing how all the multipart Conan episodes are combined into one page, I think that the 4-part The Shadow of the Black Organization should be merged into one page. -Thriceplus 01:33, 16 September 2007 (UTC)

Clarification on 2007-Nov-5 SP Airing

My girlfriend asked me a question regarding the "soshite ningyo wa inakunatta" SP that aired November 5 2007 on YTV. The SP seems to be a digitally edited special edition (デジタルリマスター特別編集版), so I'm assuming this SP aired before. Is this airing the same as episodes 222-224? I didn't find the Nov 5 airing listed in this article. Thanks! Groink (talk) 22:52, 15 December 2007 (UTC)

Split

I'll be moving season 1-2 summaries to List of Case Closed episodes (season 1-2). Please don't revert back. Rezumop (talk) 23:09, 13 January 2008 (UTC)

With Season 1 and 2 having their own articles, all of the info should probably be removed from this page, leaving just the links. At 185 kilobytes, this article is more than 3x longer than the length at which Wikipedia advises to begin splitting information off. Since the information still exists, I'm going to remove that from this page.Kuwabaratheman (talk) 21:22, 22 February 2008 (UTC)

Season divisions doesn't make any sense

Typically, anime seasons are around 26 episode, sometimes 52 episodes, with two seasons per year. These season changes can be detected when the OP and/or ED change or there is a format change. However, the season lists don't come close to either 26 or 52 nor do they coincide with any change in the OP or ED. The current divisions doesn't make any logical since because seasons don't aways start on the first week of January and end on the last week of December. The seasons really need to be fix before a split is conducted. --Farix (Talk) 22:54, 19 January 2008 (UTC)

I was really confused about the seasons as well. Technically, Japan has cours instead of seasons which is 13 weeks so I was looking at the DVD releases instead. Both Japanese and Funimation releases their DVD in parts. Japan's part one has 28 episodes. Funimation's part one has only 19. I did find a site here and they have 15 or 16 seasons, but I don't know where they got that information from. Rezumop (talk) 23:57, 19 January 2008 (UTC)

I think the person was just separating the seasons based on the year(this is explained above by another user), however, that's not the best way too arrange the seasons. As was already said, by OP/ED or dvd releases, but I stay away from messing with the formatting and all that and leave it to the professionals. If you find valid info concerning the season releases, then change it. CH (talk) 01:21, 20 January 2008 (UTC)

The first 7 parts for the Japanese dvds have the following episodes:
  1. 1-25, 27,28
  2. 26, 29-54
  3. 55-79,81-82
  4. 80,83-106
  5. 107-134
  6. 135-160,162
  7. 161,163-193
This would make year 1-2 almost four seasons. -Rezumop (talk) 07:14, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
Instead of seasons, how about changing it to "year"? Rezumop (talk) 23:13, 23 January 2008 (UTC)

Redid the first two seasons based on the funimation box set releases, consisting of twenty-six episodes each as you mentioned above.CH (talk) 23:41, 22 July 2008 (UTC)

Per a conversation on Talk:Case Closed, I've fully moved seasons 1 and 2 to separate lists, cleaned up the formatting, added leads, and used tranclusions to bring them into the page. However, season 3 et all is confusing the heck out of me. It seems like the divisions may or may not be accurate? Can someone find a source for the remaining season divisions? Should the rest wait until we know what Funimation is going to do, or just go with the existing season divisions and redo the lists if necessary later? -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 01:40, 3 September 2008 (UTC)
Someone posted seasons 3 and beyond by year. I'm not sure if it's accurate, but there's nothing more we can do at the moment unless you have japanese season info. The best thing to do is to wait for Funimation to release the next dvd set. Season 2 is scheduled for September and season three for November 25th of 2008. I don't know why it says on the page that season 2 won't be released until 2009 when it says on the promo and official website that September of this year is going to be the release date. I might have to fix that...CH (talk) 02:38, 4 September 2008 (UTC)

From the site I got, this is for the first seven seasons.
1.Episodes 1-29
2.Episodes 30-52
3.Episodes 53-81
4.Episodes 82-110
5.Episodes 111-135
6.Episodes 136-169
7.Episodes 170-200

Episode 515

I think the Kaitou Kid special, 515, is another season; since it takes a 4 week break, it's a special which is casual for opening new seasons. Also if it has a new opening would it help with my argument? DragonZero (talk) 22:29, 14 October 2008 (UTC)

No. Season divisions aren't decided by opening themes or even breaks , but by what the company says. -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 00:29, 15 October 2008 (UTC)

English airing

Are they still airing English dubbed episodes?DragonZero (talk) 02:01, 19 October 2008 (UTC)

Can someone use the original japanese season and episode numbers instead of the american dubs which hasn't even finished airing the 'third season (episode 86 - 128)'. It's causing confusion for people watching outside of america or people who watch the raws or with subtitles. User:123456alal 17 Feburary 2009

There is no confusion. Also, they finished dubbing season 5, they stopped airing with season 3. Also it's English wikipedia so we have to go with the season division. The seasons after season 5 are all Jap until they confirmed they will be dubbing seasons after the fifth.DragonZero (talk) 23:16, 17 February 2009 (UTC)
You can't just add the FUNi seasons to the number used for the Japanese seasons, because that mixes two different grouping systems into a grouping system that is just wrong, and certainly not used by any reliable third party source. At the very least change the Japanese seasons to something like broadcast year and number them accordingly, or don't group the episodes that haven't been adapted by Case Closed into seasons at all. 98.77.124.239 (talk) 21:12, 22 February 2009 (UTC)
Well if there was an official Japanease season division anywhere, it would help. DragonZero (talk) 04:22, 6 March 2009 (UTC)

Episode numbering

The article has mixed episode numberings. The lead of the article has the episodes based on the original version, while the season separation has been changed to the dub version. Since no more dubbing episodes have been confirmed after season 5, should it be changed back to the original episode numberings? DragonZero (talk) 02:41, 29 March 2009 (UTC)

I re-organized the Japanese seasons based on the episodes on their DVD. AKA, season 1 is part 1. Part 1 contained 7 volumes, if I recall correctly. DragonZero (talk) 21:05, 26 April 2009 (UTC)

So this current listing is the correct one? Thanks DragonZero. --Sesiom316 (talk) 04:39, 27 April 2009 (UTC)

I wouldn't say 100% correct. The DVD's jumped episodes at parts and I rounded some episodes up or down a season. See here. DragonZero (talk) 04:45, 27 April 2009 (UTC)
I can't read JAPANESE.. What are the listing below the DVD ep. listing? Does it mean the TV airshows are only in season 14? I'm in Asia so I don't use the funimation listing. Thanks.. --Sesiom316 (talk) 04:53, 27 April 2009 (UTC)
The list below is the VHS release which was discontinued at part 14. Anyways, what I mean to show is part 11 and part 12 DVD episodes overlap each other. DragonZero (talk) 04:57, 27 April 2009 (UTC)

Spliting

How can the article be split? Make separate pages for Season 6-16 and take off the summaries? Raychut (talk) 13:10, 10 April 2009

Why would the summaries be taken off? It'd just get moved to another article. DragonZero (talk) 21:00, 10 April 2009 (UTC)
Sorry that's what I meant, move to another articles Raychut (talk) 03:02, 11 April 2009

Well, I just gotta confirm the Japanese season division before splitting the article. DragonZero (talk) 03:14, 11 April 2009 (UTC)

I don't think there are really any Japanese season divisions, unless they really make 1 year into 1 season. Starting from 1999, they start the year with an 1 hour+ special (excluding 2007) or long series of episodes(Clash of Red, 2008). Raychut (talk) 04:39, 11 April 2009
There is a season division. Amazon.co.jp There are 17 parts with 7 volumes each for dvd. The season division is kinda close to the English. In the Japanese season division, the first season has 28 episodes. I'm planning on changing it to the Japanese season division unless there are objections. We do not separate by year or arcs by the way. DragonZero (talk) 05:09, 11 April 2009 (UTC)
I found that to, but it has strange volumes counting. There are 17 parts, but some has 7, 8, 9, or 10 volumes. [Part15] has 10 volumes, [Part11] has 8 volumes, and [Part10] has 9 volumes. It is a bit strange for the parts to have so many different numbers of volumes, so I didn't count that as a season division. Raychut (talkcontribs) 05:31, 11 April 2009 (UTC)
I don't think what I just said is important, I think we can use these as season divisions. Raychut (talkcontribs) 05:44, 11 April 2009 (UTC)
Looking at it, it is uneven in some parts. Part 8 as 9 volumes and contains episodes 255-290. DragonZero (talk) 05:57, 11 April 2009 (UTC)
I don't think there is anime that is even, especially Case Closed because it has specials. Raychut (talkcontribs) 06:09, 11 April 2009 (UTC)
Well, I think we should go with the DVD orders, once I confirm whether is there an opposition against the ideal. For now, if you have time, I'd appreciate it if you work on the season 2 article summaries so it's more like the season 1 article. DragonZero (talk) 06:56, 11 April 2009 (UTC)
If you haven't noticed yet, with only a couple of exceptions the Japanese parts don't follow the original broadcast episode order contiguously. For example, episode 219 (Japanese count) is the last volume of [part8], while episodes 217, 218, 220 and 221 are on the first volume of [part9].
Also, the Amazon.jp item descriptions appear to be sloppy in places. Amazon.jp seems to claim that [part2.volume1] has all four episodes from 25 to 31 (but that's seven episodes) and that [1.7] has all four episodes from 24 to 28 (but that's five episodes). The truth is probably what a fan site has: 1.7 has episodes 24, 25, 27, and 28 and 2.1 has episodes 26, 29, 30, and 31. 74.233.132.213 (talk) 04:24, 27 April 2009 (UTC)
Yes I noticed. Also, please place new discussions at the bottem of a section. I didn't even notice this message. DragonZero (talk) 04:59, 27 April 2009 (UTC)

I plan on changing it back to the Japanese numbering, and then re-splitting the episode into 17 sections according to the Japanese DVD's tommorrow or the day after that. If no one objects, I'll change the episodes. DragonZero (talk) 05:00, 13 April 2009 (UTC)

Go on, it is very annoying to see double episode numbers in a #/# format. Raychut (talkcontribs) 16:54, 13 April 2009 (UTC)

Magic File

Anyone got information about the Magic File episodes? I heard Magic File 1 was Pay per view, Magic File 2 is the OVA of movie 12, and Magic File 3 will be released straight to DVD for Movie 13. DragonZero (talk) 03:02, 24 August 2009 (UTC)

Here's information for Magic File 3 and Magic File 2 from Aga-search.com. 工藤新一 謎の壁と黒ラブ事件 (Kudou Shinichi — The Case of the Mysterious Wall and the Black Lab)is the title of Movie 12 OVA and 新一と蘭・麻雀牌と七夕の思い出 (Shinichi and Ran — Mahjong pieces and the Memories of the Qixi Festival) is the title of Movie 13 OVA. The other episodes in MF2 and MF3 and just episodes from before. Raychut (talkcontribs) 08:46, 24 August 2009 (UTC)

Issues that still need to be resolved

  • References of episode air dates below 266.
    • Aga-search still needs to be proven to be a reliable source or replaced entirely.
  • English air dates need sourcing
  • Copy editing for episode summaries
  • Sources and dates for OVA's
  • Other missing OVA's such as the ten planets.

If these can be solved, I think the list may make featured list one day. DragonZero (talk · contribs) 07:59, 14 December 2009 (UTC)

It appears whoever wrote this thinks that a DVD that says "DVD 13 part ___" means that that is season 13, which I've seen no reason to believe. Conan airs year-round and doesn't have seasons in the US sense. Ken Arromdee (talk) 05:30, 2 December 2013 (UTC)

Same with a bunch of other anime episode lists. The list's arrangement won't be changed. Otherwise, we'd just be having a giant list or dividing them by years. DragonZero (Talk · Contribs) 05:36, 2 December 2013 (UTC)
So you're going to ignore accuracy and WP:RS for the sake of tidiness? (And yes, of course, other anime pages do it. It's a systematic problem.) At least change it to lists of episode by year instead of by season (leaving the term "season" for those episodes that have a US release that is called a season). There are sources that indicate that episodes come out in particular years. Ken Arromdee (talk) 17:31, 2 December 2013 (UTC)
Yes I am. I will ignore all rules if it is preventing me from making an improvement. The DVDs itself are sourced reliably and encapsulate the episodes. It is equivalent to dividing the articles into years. If you want accuracy, just move all the episode lists to say parts instead of seasons then. Otherwise, this discussion won't convince me to put a large amount of time to arrange the lists into three lists (1996 to 2000), (2001 to 2010), and (2010 to current) because of template size restrictions. Not to mention the 17 or 18 separate lists that will have to be created. DragonZero (Talk · Contribs) 23:20, 2 December 2013 (UTC)
In that case, why can't you call them DVD sets instead of seasons? Ken Arromdee (talk) 16:49, 3 December 2013 (UTC)

Changing "FUNimation" Episode Order/Count to "International Order/Count".

I noticed how this section seems to indicate the episode count that FUNimation uses, but I honestly feel this should be revised. FUNimation's episode count for Conan is also the International Episode Count/Order for the series as well. When TMS shipped out the episodes to various licensors, they also split the Specials into several episodes, thus increasing the episode count for overseas listings (though I believe the exception is to the few countries that use the Japanese Masters, rather than TMS's International master). What I suggest we do is try to modifying the information to include the International episode count through the entire series, rather than just calling it the FUNimation Episode Count and only listing up to where they stop. Anyone up for this? Mendinso (talk) 02:33, 11 March 2014 (UTC)

I see what you mean, but the list will solely focus on original work, then English adaptations, due to various reasons brought up by past discussions in ENG Wiki. DragonZero (Talk · Contribs) 05:01, 11 March 2014 (UTC)
