Chaoji vs. Chaozii

The Gray Ark fan book says it's Chaozii. I can and will upload a scan for proof if someone doubts me.

I know how every character's name is spelled in Gray Ark. However, there was a discussion on this at the bottom of this page. The conclusion was we spell it how Viz Media spells it. Unless the publisher adopts the Chaozii spelling, it's Chaoji. But I'm not sure how Malcolm's last name is going to be spelled on the page. Itzjustdrama ^(drama?) 03:00, 23 August 2008 (UTC)

Confusion

If Kanda had died, then how could it be confirmed that he can still continue his career as an exorcist? And would we never find out who he had been searching for, that "mysterious person?" -Anonymous-

Deak

Just wondering, but should Lavi's previous alias, Deak, be added in as it was before it was removed (His real name is possibly Deak (ディック, Dikku), as revealed by a past memory of Bookman in Road's dimension, although this could equally be one of his previous 48 aliases.)? The scanlations vary on this, but someone who actually read the chapter without translations (in its original form, that is), said that it implied that it was the 48th alias, not his actual name. I'd honestly be disappointed if Lavi's real name was that.

"Bookman: お前は今「ラビ」だろうが!!　(Omae wa ima "Lavi" darou ga!!) Lavi:　あ、前の記録地の名前で振り返っちゃった? (A, mae no ROGGU no namae de furikaecchatta?)

Bookman basically yells at Lavi, saying "You are LAVI now!!" ...just as the scanlator at OneManga.com has written...but what Lavi says in response is what tells us readers that "Deke/Deak/etc." is his 48th name and not his REAL name. He says "Ah, did I turn around when you said my name from the previous 'log'?" The scanlator at OneManga.com translated this sentence to mean: "Ah! Did I turn around when you used my name before the logs?" I think this may be where people are getting the idea that "Deke/Deak/etc" is Lavi's REAL name. But that's not what Lavi said. If he meant to say "my name before the logs," he would have had to say "LOG no mae no namae," or basically "the name before the logs." What he says is "mae no LOG no namae," or basically "the name of/from the log before" or "the name of/from the previous log.""

Gray Ark VS. Viz Media

Recently, the Gray Ark fanbook was released. It listed the names of the characters in Romanji, with names such as David, Skin, and others translated by Viz Media listed as Devit, Skinn, and so on. A similar problem was brought up at the Earl of Millennium's followers talk page and resolved. Any thoughts? All articles should use the official Viz Media translations as they will be the ones most familiar to users. I think that the Gray Arks should be used since there are the orginal names. Most articles I have read have the english translations listed as a side note such "Devit (David in official Viz Media translation)". As far as names being more familiar to users thing goes, its not really a good reason since its lacks "sources" so we really dont know were any of the user found out about D. Per our MoS: "Use the official English titles for article names and place the transliteration of the Japanese on the first line of the article. If there are multiple official titles, use the one that is best known and that has contributed most to the work's becoming known in the broader English-speaking world." Gray Arks does not give official English names, it gives official romanized names. We use the official English names. Additionally, between the actual manga or a just released book, its pretty obvious which hs contributed most to the broader English-speaking world. 03:41, 13 August 2008 (UTC)

Other Branch Members/Heads

I don't believe that the Branch Heads play a major role, other than Komui and Bak. They stick around for maybe a few chapters. And some of the Order members that were removed don't play a major part at all. I honestly believe that Chakar Rabon, Gwen Frere, Kazana Reed, Sol Galen, and Tina Spark should all be removed. If not, I would like to know their seiyū. Maybe you can include it in the minor characters. But Gwen Frere, Sol Galen, and Tina Spark is really not necessary as they did not even appear in the anime or manga before.--Frontier95 (talk) 01:16, 24 August 2008 (UTC)

I guess. I'll try to find their seiyū, although ANN doesn't list them. It usually does. And it may be possible to add them to minor. Although that page needs serious editing.

Speculation and needless information

At this point, it's pretty difficult for me to separate speculation from the rest of it. Especially when it says Lenalee shares a stronger bond with Allen, Allen and the 14th statements; how much of that is speculation? The statement relating Link's assignment and Cross' disappearance is definitely speculation as well as the statement saying Cross is still alive. I say his status is unknown as he disappeared and should be stated that way. In addition, who was affected by the Virus is useless and any other minor information should be removed. Thoughts? Merge

it's seriously ridiculous that we have four different character lists, List of D.Gray-man characters, List of Earl of Millennium followers, The Noah Family, and this page here. List of D.Gray-man characters doesn't even list the characters as its name suggests. I believe we should just merge whatever we need to. But there's really no response when it's brought up. Agree with the merge idea. However these lists need some trimmings of minor info beacuse its very long. However, I think we could create an article for Allen, since he is mentioned in some reviews, has merchandising and appears in popularity polls.--Tintor2 (talk) 01:02, 3 September 2008 (UTC)

True. I collected some merchandising information I was going to use for The Noah Family found here. I think we should use List of Naruto characters as a model because its the only featured anime character list at the moment. If we're merging The Noah Family, then we have to put it on List of D.Gray-man characters because there's no need to create a List of Main Characters of D.Gray-man. I think we should chop the sections down into something like these although I may have taken out too many chunks and left out too much. But that's the idea basically. The reason I removed so much information was because it went too much into detail. I agree I didn't do the best job possible. But the current page has all the characters in an overview. Basic information is really all that's needed, although I'll admit I cut out some of the important things. I believe we don't need to go in-depth on all the Akuma characters, the differences between each level and such. Most of that on each page can be explained in the leads, although I didn't do the best job on that either. But that's all I can manage in six days.
