Talk:List of African dependencies

Sicily doesn't belong here edit

Sicily is clearly apart of Europe. Every map on earth shows it. Nevermind the politics. But either way unlike Sintt Marteen or the canary islands where they're albeit geographically not a part of Europe but politically they are, Sicily is both politically, culturally and geographically European. And how come "Continental Africa" includes Sicily (what a stretch) and yet Great Britain and Ireland is excluded from "Continental Europe"? Doesn't anyone know basic geography? This is beyond egregious. Then how come Crete and Malta isn't listed here as being in Africa? Or Cyprus which on some historical maps, wasn't included as apart of Europe? Is it on the "Asiatic plate". Iceland is considered Europe despite being far away from "Continental" Europe and being closer to Greenland which last I cheqed is in North America right? Yet somehow don't Anyone dare refer to Hawaii as NOT being apart of America, Despite being in the middle of the Pacific. So the lesson today is kids, Is that Hawaii is MORE part of North America the United States (Boston, NY) than Sicily is a part of Italy or Europe (or even Naples). Even though Crossing from Sicily to Calabria is like taking the Brooklyn Bridge to Manhattan. What a travesty. 76.167.193.57 (talk) 20:17, 8 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

Zanzibar edit

Why consider Zanzibar a dependency, when it entered union with Tanzania? I mean thats what the "zan" is for in the name. It has a very different history and status than for example the Spanish territories on mainland Africa. Zanzibar has some autonomy within Tanzania, but so do Grande Comore, Anjouan and Mohéli in Comoros. Babakathy (talk) 08:26, 4 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
