Quotes edit

What about the quote where Hutz says "I rest my case", and the judge asks, amazed, "You rest your case?" and Hutz replies "No! I thought it was just a figure of speech"? JIP | Talk 18:07, 31 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Picture edit

I don't believe Selma is the ex-wife of Lionel Hutz. I think someone might've confused Lionel Hutz with Troy McClure. Can anyone confirm this? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.226.150.50 (talk) 11:04, 7 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

--In the episode where Apu must become an American citizen or be deported, Homer calls Selma to ask if she will marry Apu so he can stay in the country. Selma responds that she is already "Selma Bouvier Terwilliger Hutz McClure" and doesn't need to add "Nahassa-passa-whatever." So while we may not have seen her marry Lionel Hutz in an episode, it is suggested by this statement that at some point she did.Adiosmofo (talk) 15:25, 30 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

That is one weird picture - it doesn't look anything like him! --Alex talk here 11:13, 30 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

absolutely agreed. I have a Lionel Hutz action figure on my desk, I can take a photo of it for the article (yes, I'm a lawyer). --Bobak 22:40, 29 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, I was just about to post this myself, its an official artwork, although a screencapture would serve alot better. Maybe if someone edits it so the hair colour is right? Gran2 17:09, 1 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
There are legal issues with screen captures, anyway- apart from the hair colour here being a shade or so darker, the picture is nigh on perfect, it even captures the right upper lip size, although in later seasons (up until the death of his voice over guy, Phil Hartman) his eyes were slightly wider. The image may suck but it is all we have for a while.71.190.236.31 (talk) 14:41, 24 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

The new image is much better. --Bobak (talk) 15:26, 28 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Past and Present tense edit

Why is this article written in the past tense? Hutz is not dead and he still appears sometimes, he just doesn't speak anymore. It should be written in the present tense, right? I'm going to change it if nobody says otherwise Rhino131 16:40, 2 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

I was wondering why it is currently written in the present tense after reading about Hartman's death and his characters on The Simpson's being retired until I read your comment, thanks for clearing that up for me. I'll miss Hutz and McClure, they where great characters.

I think the writers of the Simpsons have a very low opinion of lawyers. The Lionel Hutz character is an example of this. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 182.239.140.8 (talk) 08:15, 7 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

another won case edit

He also won the case about the metal Krutsy O ring in the episode 'Round Springfield. --MrBurns (talk) 16:37, 23 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

inspiration for other crooked lawyers edit

Bob Odenkirk says he played Saul Goodman as if he were Robert Evans. Okay, but that's mannerisms. One wonders to what degree Saul Goodman as a character -- who's not merely dishonest, but downright comic at times -- was influenced by Lionel Hutz?
