Question edit

what is its uses

Ummm... how about read the article? The first line explains that its purpose is "to block the sun or other light source in order to prevent glare and lens flare." :-P ǝɹʎℲxoɯ (contrib) 21:16, 26 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Leverage? edit

The last sentance reads "On the other hand, a hard lens hood increases the leverage caused by a blow to the end."

When a lens with an attached hood is dropped, the hood would almost certainly break off, and if not, would be deformed either permanently or temporarily, thereby absorbing some of the shock of the impact, shock that would have been imposed upon the lens and the mount if the hood had not been attached. Any additional leverage that might place additional strain on the lens mount would certainly be, at most, minimal when compared to the strain absorbed by the hood.

I suggest we remove this sentence. TCav (talk) 15:24, 10 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

compendium hood edit

Has the author ever heard of a compendium hood? It's a kind of bellows that can be adjusted to fit the lens's focal length and the field of view of the image. A description and pictures need to be added. WilliamSommerwerck (talk) 15:11, 21 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
