Does this really belong in Wikipedia? It smacks of certain students posting a vanity article.

Please don't blank the talk page, it's considered rude, inappropriate, and can easily be undone. The article belongs on wikipedia because other high schools do have entries. There's a bare mimimum of broadly relevent information (such as notable alums) that's not likely to expand anytime soon. And beyond that, it's simply a breeding ground for (presumably students from the school) to vandalise with gossip (as the history shows), it should perhaps be locked. Sex Scandal

Removing this information until a source is provided. Until it is, I'm just going to assume it's slander or more vandalism. Elijya 16:59, 28 December 2005 (UTC)

I've added it back with source. Thanks for cleaning up the vandalism; that paragraph was actually true. (You could have simply Googled the name in question.) --Quarl 22:40, 28 December 2005 (UTC)

-I've decided it apropriate to remove the sex scandal portion completely from this article. I do not deny that these events happen but they most certainly do not shape our school as much as the article tends to imply. In fact, apart from demographics, the only thing about our school that this article contains are the two sex scandals. Leland High School is made of more than demographics and sex scandals thank you very much. I should think it adequate to re-add this section once more content on our school is present in this article. I agree with Elijya, at the moment, this article is nothing more than students posting vanity articles. Show some basic respect for your own school.

Unnotable information

Wikipedia does allow for school article due to some notability, but adding the names of random students of no note or import both promises to jam up Wikipedia with megabytes of useless data and adding no value to the encyclopedic tone of these articles. Please review Wikipedia:Notability for a clearer understanding of this principle. - CobaltBlueTony 03:34, 2 January 2006 (UTC)

list of colleges that Leland graduates attend

Please do not add a list of which colleges Leland graduates attend. I have removed them multiple times now. Readers can consult U.S. News and World Report for school rankings. Any list you write here will be controversial as past edit wars have shown – constant adding and removing and sorting. Quarl (talk) 2006-01-05 06:29Z

"Notable alumni"

I recently removed a few entries from Leland High School#Notable alumni. The first was my own name followed by a few random falsehoods (FYI - to my knowledge, there are no strawberry farms in San Jose). The parties responsible for adding this information (themselves Leland students) have been gently encouraged to cease and desist. The second was Steve Bowen. Although Bowen is certainly well-known at Leland High School, I have my doubts as to whether outsiders would consider his name notable. However, I am interested in hearing arguments either way. --Greg Courville 02:38, 5 April 2006 (UTC)

-I as well see fit to remove Steve Bowen. He is likely the most well known teacher on campus but outside of campus, his fame stretches to his mushroom groups and a single almaden times article. I believe he was added due to his fame on campus which is stretching the boundaries of what should go on this article. I am unfamiliar with some of the other notable alumni on this page so I shall refrain from removing them until further information is gathered. Unless proper justification is provided for the addition of Steve Bowen, I request he remain absent from the list.

So, why was Jason Tenner removed? Use the discussion. Qorzm 04:52, 1 September 2006 (UTC)

So, why does Grant Young keep getting removed? Isn't he famous enough?

-Well, for one thing, the information used in the Leland article concering him was false by the article linked. The entry for him says he is a drummer. The information sloppily jotted down here said he was a singer and guitarist? One of the entries affiliated with him needs to be corrected. Until then, he is not "notable" enough to be in that section.

improvements

In light of my removal of the sex scandal section and steve bowen from the notable alumni, I would like to encourage everyone to properly edit this page to something respectable and an accurate representation of this school. Leland High is a prestigious school with a strong history so lets make the most of it.

I'm sure we all appreciate your contributions, but who are you? Please sign your posts. Qorzm 03:27, 24 August 2006 (UTC)

Nice job putting an extremely out of date picture up. Seriously, we have a stage there now. It looks nothing like the picture posted. Qorzm 06:41, 3 November 2006 (UTC)

Naiwebnoig, please use the discussion if you're going to make such significant changes. I agree with the removal of the sports section, but not the part about the Speech and Debate team. It would be great if we got a reference for that. The motivated student body comment wasn't neutral either, so that can stay out. Qorzm 06:11, 23 November 2006 (UTC)

Demographics

We need a source of this information due to the constant changing and disagreements. Gone until a source is provided. Qorzm 05:19, 30 October 2006 (UTC)

Lock for repeated vandalism?

It seems like this page has had a history of moderately frequent vandalism. How much vandalism is warranted before it's required that editors be signed in? --Risacher 07:55, 9 May 2007 (UTC)
