Merging with City of Leeds
I suggest that this page is merged with the City of Leeds because it has the same boundaries and population. EverythingGeography (talk) 19:23, 2 July 2013 (UTC)
- It does not have the same boundaries or population figures as the City of Leeds also includes other settlements such as Pudset, Morley etc. The split is usual for this type of geographic area such as City of Salford and Salford. Keith D (talk) 20:53, 2 July 2013 (UTC)

- They're separate topics, just as Salford, Greater Manchester/City of Salford or Oldham/Metropolitan Borough of Oldham are. One difference is that Leeds and City of Leeds have the same infobox format - this can probably be resolved by changing the Leeds infobox. Peter James (talk) 23:24, 29 July 2013 (UTC)

Leeds is probably the UK's worst offender when it comes to overstating its population. The "city and metropolitan district" (population 750,000) covers an area that is quite a bit larger than the city itself. Talk of a wider "urban area" is fairly meaningless as it contains entirely separate towns (and cities) such as Bradford, Wakefield, Huddersfield and Halifax which relate very little to the Leeds economy.
Education
There are two figures listed for student population, 250,000 (reference number 131) and "over 200,000" (reference number 163). However, if you check the individual pages for all of the institutions of higher education in the city, the total number of students comes to just over 140,000.
