This article gives a clear definition of what a layoff consists of. The first paragraph gives a good explanation of a layoff however the first section overall has poor readability. The section is chopped into many separate pieces and could be combined into one solid paragraph to create a better introduction and overview of the topic. The article itself is written well and I like the terminology section, giving the reader a better idea of how the word and idea of a layoff is coined throughout the public and private sector. The references and sources a good in quality however reference 8 does not have enough information to be a full citation. The reference 14 hyperlink redirects to a webpage not found 404 error (the homepage is still active though). The references should be double checked before the final edit to ensure all the hyperlinks are current and all cited sources are properly used. The unemployment compensation section is written well and has a lot of good information on efforts to ease the effects of layoffs. I believe the article could be expanded with another section on major layoffs in the public and private sector. A history of major layoffs and how they have effected that country politically, socially, and economically could help expand the idea of the effects of layoffs in the article. The "Layoff" article is very informative and well written. Today, sadly it is one of the most talked about things in economies and job markets worldwide. A significant reduction in force; this article has been revised well for the most part. I think expanding on a history section for this article could be key considering it is very relevant in the lives of many. Covering not only the history and statistics of layoff's in the U.S. but world wide. Specifically, the terminology section was very interesting and substantial. It read very well and increased the knowledge I have on why the term "Layoff" is used. Also the common abbreviations section helps in the case I ever see them in the future I will now know what it is referring to. Moving on to the Unemployment compensation section; this section reads well and is also very informative in my opinion. It is the most thoroughly written part of this article, good job. Unemployment compensation in Australia is interesting; However, I think this article could potentially b changed to "Unemployment Compensation Throughout the World" this would give a chance to show the differences between countries and compensation. Besides a few minor changes this is a good article! — Preceding unsigned comment added by L.lynch95 (talkcontribs) 02:54, 5 December 2016 (UTC)
