Names edit

There apper to be several name issues with this article. First, the article is misspelled, the title should be Lapis armenius and not Lapis armenus, though the correct spelling already exists as a redirect to Azurite. This redirect is supported by the listing of "lapis armenius" as a synonym of azurite on mindat.org. The second and more noticable problem is that "Armenian stone" appers to be a term used for several different substances over the years that were not the same, and it is only current useage that treats it as a synonym of Lapis lazuli. Either way this should be merged with either Azurite as this is what the article seems to talk about, or with lapis lazuli as a synonym. --Kevmin (talk) 22:35, 5 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Yes, it also occurred to me that this should be redirected to Lapis lazuli since every source I have been able to find from 1600 on, treats Armenian stone as a synonym for Lazuli - see the sources I added like the 1998 Websters dictionary which defines "Armenian stone" as "a commercial name for Lapis Lazuli"... All you would need to do at Lapis lazuli is mention that "Armenian stone" is an alternate name, since similar substances were known throughout the Caucasus in antiquity. Appears that it is mainly text from 18th century encyclopedia
