Tennyson's "close friendship" with the de Veres edit
The article currently says
- Tennyson spent some time as a guest at Curragh Chase and wrote the poem to show his close friendship with the de Vere family
The reference backs this up:
- "Tennyson spent some time as his [Aubrey de Vere's] guest at Curragh Chase in 1848; and we have his Lady Clara Vere de Vere to show his close friendship with the family."" (p.330)
How was Tennyson showing his friendship with the de Veres by writing a poem about a scoundrel with their name? I am very puzzled. Marnanel (talk) 20:19, 8 February 2020 (UTC)
