Info wanted

I want some information posted on the 2003 bushfires in Kosciuszko national park. If you have any information on this topic from a reliable source and that is not copyrighted please type it in (go to edit this page at the top of the page) to help people with their research. Thanks heaps, you rock.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 144.139.223.199 (talkcontribs) 18:10, 14 March 2006 (UTC+11 hours)

Geehi Hut

edit

Is this structure within the national park? Should the articles be merged, or would anyone be able to add any references to Geehi Hut?

Multiple independent references would clearly establish notability. Garrie 02:03, 7 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Sources [1], [2] and [3] Seems reasonably popular because of it's easy access. :: maelgwn :: talk 07:53, 7 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Merge

edit

Propose merge from Geehi Hut to this article. Due to lack of appropriate content for the article and following the case where most other hut articles are not kept. :: maelgwn :: talk 07:53, 7 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Support The Australian Alps article has a section on huts. Once there were enough huts listed perhaps they could have a page of their own (there are hundreds after all) - or form part of an article on the early european settlement of the area? Alexander110 04:27, 1 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Oppose I would prefer to keep pages for individual notable huts, like the Geehi Hut, YHA Hut and Daveys Hut, have a list of alpine huts in Australia, if others are inclined and have small sections on this and the Alps article which summarise their significance. - Shiftchange (talk) 13:02, 12 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Oppose Alpine huts in Australia have significant cultural, social, historical, and heritage significance. There should be a sperate article on the huts with the more significant huts having their own articles. Ronnam (talk) 05:23, 30 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Merge here of Blue Lake (New South Wales)

edit

I discovered this on dead end articles. It does not seem very notable. The source is odd, being the first time I have seen a reference to a notice at the place. It looks like everything that needs to be said, can be said here at Kosciuszko National Park but I welcome other views. --Bduke (Discussion) 07:26, 7 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

At the Ramsar Convention website here it has this to say: "Blue Lake. 17/03/96; New South Wales; 320 ha; 36º24’S 148º19’E. National Park. One of only four cirque lakes found on mainland Australia. Situated at altitude, in a periglacial setting, it is surrounded by alpine herb fields, heaths, fens and bogs that support various native plants and animals, including rare, vulnerable and endangered species, as well as several invertebrate species restricted to the alpine zone. Human activities include conservation education, skiing, and ice climbing. Ramsar site no. 800. Most recent RIS information: 1996." Since it is listed under the Ramsar Convention as a wetland of international importance, it has some notability, and it may be best to let it have its own page. If neither you nor anybody else wishes to use this (and other) information to expand it, I will probably get round to it sometime, though not immediately. Maias (talk) 11:03, 29 March 2010 (UTC)Reply
OK - I have expanded the Blue Lake article. I think that it can probably stand on its own now, though more information would be desirable. Maias (talk) 04:27, 7 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned references in Kosciuszko National Park

edit

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Kosciuszko National Park's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Reference named "ABS":

  • From Corryong: Australian Bureau of Statistics (25 October 2007). "Corryong (Urban Centre/Locality)". 2006 Census QuickStats. Retrieved 2009-03-20.
  • From Snowy Mountains Scheme: Australian Bureau of Statistics 1986 Special Article: The Snowy Mountains Hydro-Electric Scheme
  • From Khancoban: Australian Bureau of Statistics (25 October 2007). "Khancoban (L) (Urban Centre/Locality)". 2006 Census QuickStats. Retrieved 25 October 2007.

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 14:20, 29 July 2012 (UTC)Reply
