Kojata

edit

The only contemporaneous written source on Samo's Empire is Fredegar's Chronicle. It does not mention any names of Samo's children. So, the two assertions ("Kojata as Samo's son" and "Kojata is regarded a founder of Kojetin") would be more convincing if their source is properly cited. Btw, regarded by whom? It would also help, if the archaeological excavations, mentioned in the article, were described in more detail. How can they support the legend stating who is the founder of the town? I doubt that some sign with a text like "This settlement was founded by..." was found. And other sorts of archaeological discoveries can hardly say anything about the name of the founder. The source you mentioned above says that "Without any doubts we have to reject all the opinions, which put the founding of Kojetín before 1059." (Original Czech version: Musíme bez výhrad odmítnout všechny názory, které kladou vznik Kojetína před rok 1059.) Therefore I think that the information in the article about archaeological findings and records in Czech and Moravian archives should go, unless some reliable sources proving these sentences are found. I would also like to point out an e-mail from an expert on archaeology from the Přerov museum (which I copied in Czech and summed up in English on Ross Hedvíček's talk page), stating that the oldest Kojetín archaeological findings of Slavic origin are dated back to the 9th century, and so they cannot support any legends about Samo's Empire.
