Khandavaprastha was the original capital of Yayati, the great ancestor of the Kurus. Abandoned later when the capital shifted to Hastinapura on the river Ganga, it became a jungle that was cleared by a holocaust and the city of Indraprastha built there by the Pandavas with Krishna's help. The Purana Kila in Delhi is said to be the same site on the river Yamuna. After the great war, the Pandavas ruled from Hastinapura, the ancestral capital, while Indraprastha was given over to Vraja, great grandson of Krishna. 59.93.246.200 (talk) 14:30, 11 January 2010 (UTC)Reply
