The [[Ružička reaction]] is a kind of ketonization. Both are short articles on very similar conversions. Both are somewhat obscure as well, I think. Both probably involve similar mechanisms. Smokefoot (talk) 21:15, 9 November 2024 (UTC)Reply

I believe that would be good, although I could not find any direct reference to it being formally considered the same in literature. I would be confident just merging it in as long as we do not claim that the reaction mechanism is identical, although I suspect it would be. It seems that the exact mechanism for ketonization has not been fully elucidated anyway. MasterTriangle12 (talk) 12:05, 11 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
Support merge, for the following reason: Baeyer used the ketonic decarboxylation to yield cyclohexane already in 1894, so even the name itself appears to be a misnomer. Pillai's textbook doesn't use it, for example. 5.178.188.143 (talk) 22:27, 12 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
