PSP Games

Is it worth mentioning the packaging that UMDs come in? They're of a similar design and idea, but different size, and designed to hold non-circular media. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Slokunshialgo (talk • contribs) 05:11, 8 May 2007 (UTC).

I'm not sure, but if so, then mention the DS cases too. They have the same basic design as the keep case, except for the mechanism to hold the media. The width and depth are the same as the standard DVD case, but the height is the same as the CD case height. 24.185.234.137 04:05, 17 August 2007 (UTC)

Keep Case Insert Measurements

I create DVD media for my company and have the exact measurements of the graphic inserts. I made these measurements myself.

OUTSIDE INSERT (OVERWRAP)

Overall Dimensions: 10.75"w x 7.25h. The horizontal value vary by a slight amount due to the seal on the plastic.
Front and Back: 5.0625"w x 7.25"h (+/- .125"w for adjustment)
Spine: .5"w x 7.25"h

INSIDE INSERT

Single Sheet: 4.875"w x 7.25"h
Single Sheet with center fold: 9.8125"w x 7.25"h

If someone has the proper names for these inserts, that would be helpful as well.

Genesis Case

AFAIK not all games for the Sega Genesis were published in plastic cases. At least Sonic & Knuckles, probably due to the odd shape of its cartridge, was sold in a special cardboard case, really weak (even worse than the SNES ones) and hard to get a in a mint condition nowadays.

And if you count the 32x games to the Genesis line, they all (with some exception, e.g. NBA Jam TE) were sold in cardboard boxes, with a design simular to the Sonic & Knuckles case. Two suggestions about points to cover

Here are two points I'd like to cover in the article. Unfortunately I'm not knowledgeable enough to do it myself:

• there are various types of hubs around and many have some sort of "easy release"/"push to release" feature; according to one source I consulted, the yin-yang hub style is exactly what distinguish an Amaray-branded case from a "generic" one. Is that true?

• what features make the case suitable for usage in automated packing machinery?

Two more questions Gennaro. First, if you use a two-disc case for a single-disc product, do you put that disc on the right or on the left? (Seems like you'd put it on the right, so it's the first thing that the user sees when opening up the case.) Secondly, if you use a two-disc case for two discs labeled Vol. 1 & Vol. 2, would you still put the first disc on the right, which means the second one would be put on the left? (If so, then again, disc 1 would be the first thing a user sees when opening the case, but it seems peculiar to have them inserted then right to left, instead of the U.S. standard of left to right.) Suggestion on Disambiguation and linking to other term

Hi, first edit here ... Just was searching for DVDs on Amazon and was confronted to terminology issues : got same title DVD but one was "keepcase" and the other "snapcase". Unable to find explanation on Amazon, I searched Wikipedia where I found that : "Snapcase" is a music group ; "keepcase" is spelled "keep case" and is about DVD packing ; "snap case" has an entry, also about DVD packing ; "snap case" and "keep case" don't link to each other. Being new at Wikipedia, and too busy now to do it myself, I thought I'll at least create my login and drop a note : someone might want to step in and do something about those entries :) BTW, how do I make this list more readable, I tried break in editor but it didn't work. PS2 case color

The color listed in the article for PlayStation 2 game cases is black — in fact, the standard NTSC cases (the ones with the memory card slot, and I think also the ones with the inset PlayStation logo) are actually a very dark blue. This is noticeable if you have good color vision, but you can see it really well if you remove the paper insert and hold the case up to the light — the thinner areas (like the seams) will be distinctly blue.

I tried to find a good source for this, but all I can see on Google are forum posts. I thought I'd leave it up to someone else to decide if that's valid. 97.64.241.77 (talk) 23:14, 27 January 2014 (UTC)

One size to rule them all?

A casual reading of the article implies that all keep cases are the same size. It would be useful to describe the common sizes and differences, eg European DVDs vs Blu-Ray, perhaps with a comparisson picture?
