Largest? edit

"Karma Kagyu (Tibetan: ཀརྨ་བཀའ་བརྒྱུད; Wylie: karma bka'-brgyud) or Kamtsang is the largest transmission lineage within the Kagyu school"
Is this true? Since the time of the Fifth Dalai Lama when KK was supressed both Drikung Kagy and Drukpa (with all it's man branches) may have both been bigger. Drukpa also has hundreds of temples in Bhutan.

Article also reads:

"With more than 600 groups and centres the Karma Kagyu School of Tibetan Buddhism is by far the largest and fastest growing Buddhist School in the West."

However the NKT site claims:

"There are 1100 Kadampa Buddhist centers and branches in 40 countries around the world where people can study and practice the teachings of Buddha." "Kadampa Buddhist Centers". The New Kadampa Tradition (NKT). Retrieved 2008-07-05.

1100 seems like more than 600 and, since they have not been established in the West for as long as the Karma Kagyu, they may therefore be "faster growing".

Buddhist organizations like Nicheren / Sokkai Gokkai International (SGI) may be larger and faster growing than any Tibetan Buddhist tradition.

If claims like "largest transmission", "biggest" and "fastest growing" are made in a Wikipedia article they probably need to be backed up with some solid statistics. Chris Fynn (talk) 08:10, 5 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Refuge Tree thangka edit

The statement of ownership is incorrect and the link does not find the page on the external site.

The Refuge Tree thangka shown is a printed copy of the original painted by Sherab Palden Beru that resides in the Kagyu Samye Ling temple in Scotland. 31.125.130.65 (talk) 17:47, 5 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
