Disclosure: I'm employed by the firm and have been tasked with suggesting updates to links and URLs. These changes will provide the firm with marginal SEO and brand benefits. But they will also serve to make the Wikipedia page more accurate and help to streamline the behavior users experience when clicking through the links (reducing chains of 301 redirects) as well as create stronger, more accurate connections to KPMG's public sites. I believe that these changes are fair, accurate and unbiased and I hope that you will consider them.

Hi - I do not understand why these changes are necessary. The current links seem to work fine and the suggested links seem to generate exactly the same information as the current links. Dormskirk (talk) 19:52, 26 February 2019 (UTC)

Hi Dormskirk. Thank you for your reply. The reference links do work, but they are currently being forwarded to the suggested URLs by 301 redirect rules. These redirect rules are time-bound and will ultimately be removed. While it may seem trivial, these changes will make the Wikipedia page more forward compatible. Also, the infobox and external links sections are marginally misleading and could potentially confuse end-users. Spiffy blue suit (talk) 13:51, 27 February 2019 (UTC)

Hi - I am not aware that this issue has cropped up on any other wikipedia page. And I am not sure why the infobox external link section is misleading. I had understood that the KPMG website was www.kpmg.com. I can see that this currently directs to a much less memorable web address but that is really an issue for KPMG not for wikipedia. Dormskirk (talk) 16:34, 27 February 2019 (UTC)

Hi Dormskirk. I appreciate your feedback and accept whatever decision you come to with respect to follow these recommendations. I believe the links to be misleading because they neither present the firm's current domain name nor do they link directly to the firm's official website(s). The systems that this domain supported were decommissioned years ago. It's my position that the marginal benefits to brand and SEO that the firm could achieve are offset by the benefits in accuracy, performance and forward-compatibility that Wikipedia could achieve. But I respect Wikipedia's guidelines and your right to draw your own conclusions. Thank you again for your time and consideration.Spiffy blue suit (talk) 17:41, 27 February 2019 (UTC)
