Cipher Description edit

The description of the cipher does not work. More specifically the description of the FI function is wrong, and none of the sources I have looked at actually describe the algorithm the way the article does. During one of the steps (l0 to l1), it specifies to use a 9 bit number with a 7 bit substitution box. So implementing the algorithm as described will result in code that will not work, therefore the description must be wrong. The description needs to either be removed entirely, or changed so that it is accurate. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.209.6.226 (talk) 06:34, 11 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

ETSI spec edit

It's unclear to me as to whether the KASUMI cipher can be used in applications outside 3G. Description of licensing terms would be helpful. Cmcqueen1975 (talk) 14:54, 24 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

The external link http://global.mitsubishielectric.com/pdf/advance/vol100/03Vol100_TR2.pdf is broken as the pdf is no longer retrieveble at that URL. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 146.171.254.96 (talk) 01:39, 8 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Current deployment vs A5/1? edit

Where is A5/3 deployed now, compared to A5/1? Given http://lwn.net/Articles/365052/ it would be useful to know more about this. --NealMcB (talk) 06:26, 4 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

As far as I can tell, KASUMI (A5/3) is used exclusively in UMTS 3G cell phone networks. However, do note that this doesn't make UMTS users secure -- an active attacker can easily force a cell phone to revert back to the old, insecure GSM network. -- intgr [talk] 17:03, 6 December 2009 (UTC)Reply
