Notability edit

Just a quick note on notability - I found the page helpful, and the fact it gives a sample of the font is a huge plus.

I also found it very helpful that it offers that font. It may be an obscure thing, but isn't Wikipedia supposed to collect knowledge? It's not like it's non-notable in the sense of some nobody putting up an autobiography or something, after all.

I found this page via web search after seeing Junicode mentioned on a linguistics blog and it answered my questions straight off. IMHO wikipedia would be a slightly poorer place without it.

I completely agree with all these views and, in the absence of any argument for its removal, I am going to remove the flag from the article. —Theo (Talk) 09:56, 4 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Junius? edit

Junicode ("Junius-Unicode") is ...

The word Junius appears nowhere else. It Would Be Nice to say why the font was so named. —Tamfang (talk) 21:37, 28 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

Need Help edit

Hello! I'm a Junicode user and I'm having trouble with my font, yet I can't seem to find anyone who can help me. My computer does not recognise Junicode's OpenType features because the font is TrueType. Does anyone know where I can post this question so that I can get help? (I know here is not the appropriate place to post this question, but I really don't know who else to turn to.)

  • Hello, I'm happy to help. It shouldn't matter what format the font is mastered in - ttf or otf - that doesn't normally matter. What may be a problem is that some programmes don't support all modern font features (see chart at bottom), so if you're trying to use the font in Word (especially an older version) things may not work. Can you tell me what programme and operating system you're trying to work, and what features you want to have work? Blythwood (talk) 23:37, 2 September 2016 (UTC)Reply
    • I'm sorry for the delay and very thankful for the help. The operating system I'm using is Windows 7 and the font feature I'm trying to work with is called stylistic variants (there was supposed to be plenty, but all I see is one). Whereas I wasn't much surprised that Microsoft Word 2010 wasn't capable of applying them even though the preview pane in "Fonts#Advanced" did seem recognise and properly preview them, I began to suspect the font was to blame when I found out that the exact same error was presenting itself in Mozilla Firefox 27 (which is known to support much more advanced features in other fonts like SIL's Gentium). I tried downloading and reinstalling Junicode from several different sources, but the error persists. 177.79.41.131 (talk) 21:27, 5 September 2016 (UTC)Reply
  • Hmm, OK. On my system (Mac), I can't make the test page display either on Safari, Chrome or Firefox. So it may indeed be an issue with the font mastering. Will try in Mac TextEdit in a bit when I have time. I'm not sure I can help you (maybe try StackExchange?), but just to check what stylistic alternate do you want to enable, specifically?
