Cash for comment

• This article desperately needs something about the 'cash for comment' scandal. Laws' allegations about connections between Howard, Flint, and Jones should also probably be included. --Calair 00:47, 26 Oct 2004 (UTC)

• There is a great satirical article in The Chaser about John Laws's Wikipedia entry, and while it's entertaining, it really isn't a point of reference for those seeking information on John Laws, so I've removed the information regarding Stilnox and seroquel tablets, would like more information esp. as a side effect from your informatant. Please could we have some geniune information on the above drugs, thanking you sincerely.

Community Radio

The recent change over from community stations in NSW to the SuperNetwork for Laws has re-focussed some media attention on him re: Codes of Practice.

Is there a point in continuing to update that section or should I delete it as that chapter is now closed!

Retirement

I've added a short piece about his imminent retirement (as I write this, he has not yet formally announced it) and added a "current events" tag also. Naysie

Famed in Sydney , but not necessarily nationally

Perhaps some of the opening sentences might better emphasise that he broadcasts principally to Sydney rather than to Australia as a whole. Despite apparent syndication of his program, he has little profile in many cities beyond his work in advertising and as a Media Watch regular.

I totally dissagree with this. Although John Law's show was broadcast from Sydney it was heard all around the Country. It had an amazing following in Melbourne and even in a small town like Ballarat there were always more then a handfull of people calling up with comments. MattyC3350 (talk) 06:29, 13 May 2008 (UTC)

Qantas sponsorship

Perhaps something should be added about his close ties to Qantas - he's payed over $100,000 to give them props on air. See the Media Watch article 23/7/07.

Also, on a personal note - what an asshole. hope he dies.

Thats a bit harsh isn't? I enjoy getting my fix of Lawsy while sitting at work, Fair enough he might have some different points of view compared to other people, and if someone was offering me $100,000 to drop there name on air a few times I could not see myself saying no in a hurry. Removed text regarding road trains

I've been trying to source the article as much as I can, but in doing so I've removed the following text:

According to Laws, he spent quite a lot of time in central western Queensland working as a rouseabout, and a fencer. He said that it was during this period that he used to see road trains go by, and this was the origin of his love of trucks and truckers. Presumably, his stint as a rouseabout and fencer was prior to 1953, and occurred between his leaving school (in 1952 at 17??) and his 18th birthday. It should be noted that there were no road trains on western Queensland roads in or prior to 1953.

I'm not sure what was used as a source for this, and I'm uncomfortable with having an unsourced claim with a fair bit of supposition immediately countered by another unsourced claim - the combination seems problematic. I can source that he worked as a jackaroo, so it may be possible to source the rest, though. - Bilby (talk) 13:00, 4 April 2010 (UTC)

Conviction under the Jury Act

This page omits a large controversy which was that in September of 2000 John Laws was sentenced to a suspended 15 month term of imprisonment for interviewing a juror contrary to the Jury Act.
