Discussion

I deleted the reference to the incident that happened on September 20 out of respect for the students who would like to put the event behind them. Even though there is no denying it, please be sensitive to our issues.

This is an encyclopedia and that was a fairly major event, although unfortunate. I think we should be adding to this article rather than removing from it. Mezzaninex 03:24, 5 December 2006 (UTC)

Founder Scott Spangler

I removed that bit from the article. The only Scott Spangler one can find is on MySpace at ; a student of JFK High in Fremont. tomst | talk 06:07, 5 April 2007 (UTC)

This is correct, I know him. Our history teacher used this as an example of why Wikipedia is unreliable as a tool for any kind of researching *rolls eyes* Mezzaninex 22:21, 8 April 2007 (UTC)

Do you know Commander Spangler the founding Principal? Or President Spangler, the boy on MySpace? The antecedent to your opening "this" is not clear to me, so I'm not sure what is correct. Does your history teacher mean that WP is unreliable becuase it includes unsourced information, such as the Scott Spangler factoid previous posted? Or because such information is removed if a citation can not be provided? I live in Fremont and support fully developed school articles, but I don't want to have to guess which information on a page is reliable. Neither is it the casual reader's job to verify the "facts" that may be posted by eager schoolboys or subtle vandals. If Principal/Commander Spangler is a real person and was involved in the founding of JFKHS, then he should have neen mentioned in the Argus and other local papers. The minutes of the FUSD Board of Trustees will include his name, title, and probably a record of his retirement with testimonial information. Perhaps there is a plaque on campus, which you could take a picture of. The article needs public domain photos anyway. At the very least, a student could add a full reference to one or more of the yearbooks that include his name, title, and photo. Good luck, --Hjal 01:58, 9 April 2007 (UTC)

I am Scott Spangler and I would appreciate it if you didn't post links to my myspace on public websites. --SpangBang 12:42, 4 July 2009 (UTC)
