Shouldn't there be at least one pre-injury image in the article?
I don't think that guy on the picture apparently sporting no more than a smite is Johannes Steinhoff. Steinhoff was seriously burnt. Leibniz 21:08, 8 June 2006 (UTC)
- Really? Well, I must admit I havent seen any other images of him, so I just trusted the info on the Interview page. Do you know of any other images which could be used? Vir Norvegicus 22:13, 8 June 2006 (UTC)
- [1] has pictures before and after the accident. Leibniz 10:17, 9 June 2006 (UTC)
- I see what you mean about seriously burnt. I'll swap in the other pictures later today - Prob take the before in the infobox and the after beside the accident description
I suspect that the scars in that photo are dueling scars. Quite a few German officers in WWII had them.
I saw an interview with Johannes Steinhoff in a documentary "The War.Collection:How Hitler Lost the War" and he says that he was shot down only once during the battle of Britain, so the information in wiki is not correct, that says the only time he was shot down was in Mediterranian.
Photo
The guy in the picture is Steinhoff. He was shot down and badly burned much later in December 1944 while on Defense of the Reich Duty whilst flying and Me 262. This photo graph was taken in 1942.Dapi89 16:25, 12 April 2007 (UTC)
- Actually, Steinhoff received those terrible burns in 1945 when his Me-262 suffered a tyre blow-out, crashing on take-off. So technically that's not being shot down. Those burns nonetheless didn't prevent him achieving a great career in the post WWII Luftwaffe. -- fdewaele, 12 April 2007, 18:36.

Ursula's maiden name?
Seems unfortunate that we state "he married Ursula". Internet sources don't seem to shed light on Ursula's maiden name.. surely there are relevant books? Nevard (talk) 15:10, 30 June 2010 (UTC)
Marriage after the war and number of children
must be wrong. In his book Final hours, in hospital he frequently worries about ‘Ursula and the children’, still in Russian-controlled parts of Germany. He also says: ‘My home in Pomerania, where I had just a few happy months following my marriage, is already lost (no news of Ursula and the children since I flew up to see them in March).’ A picture of him and Ursula in 1942 in the same book, even though she is not in white dress, is similar in style to other wedding pictures I've seen from the period. According to the NYT obit, he also had a son. He also had four siblings, he had two sisters in addition to the two brothers mentioned in this article. Paaln (talk) 19:37, 26 October 2010 (UTC)
Luftwaffe Insignia
I recommend that the information box on the right side of the article be corrected so that the old Bundeswehr maltese cross be show and not the modern Bundeswehr maltese. The General served in the cold war Luftwaffe, not the current one. If we make efforts to show the correct flags and insignia elswhere, why not here as well? The General never served under the current blue / grey maltese. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 178.76.169.140 (talk) 13:32, 7 September 2011 (UTC)
Pre-crash pictures
On Bundesarchive there are two pictures of Steinhoff taken before the crash. Bild 101I-454-1066-20 and Bild 183-H26031. Could these possibly be loaded to Commons? Paaln (talk) 21:30, 8 September 2011 (UTC)
- Disappointing to see you did not get a response. However, I contacted another editor who is also a serious contributor to Commons to ask him about this. Hopefully he will respond... Cheers! Azx2 17:43, 13 July 2013 (UTC)
