Copyrighted PDFs?

I followed a couple of the PDF links under books. Some appear to be complete copies of works copyrighted as recently as 2004! For example, "2004 – Trade Like Jesse Livermore by Richard Smitten". Is this legal? M. Edward (Ed) Borasky aka znmeb (talk) 20:37, 19 September 2012 (UTC)

Rewrite

rewrote most of the article because there were too many inaccuracies/casual tone/irrelevant details/lack of important facts. I didn't link everything and didn't recheck everything, but I hope you guys find it to be improved from previous versions.

Grammar

It is great to see that someone is making grammar checks. But I noticed they have been changing the words and meaning within the "referenced" sentences.

Please note, references are taken directly from the books and other reliable sources. Therefore, this is manipulating the content. And does provide a miss leading direction from the original source.

It may be better to just verify that the references are correct and accurate.

Death of

What does how he died have to do with how he lived? Removing "His book How to Trade Stocks was published in 1940, the same year he committed suicide." until you explain the circumstances surrounding his death. GT

I got that piece of information from the sources listed above. On what grounds do you believe it should not be incorporated into the article? His book surely is something worth mentioning. If you don't like the way information is presented, rewrite it, but do not delete encyclopedic content without explanation. You already mentioned what year he dies 1940. What about the other books that he wrote or contributed to. What is the significance of what year they were published?

What does how he dies have to do with his contributions?

What are the details of his birth?

Why not post the final eight-page letter to his wife, or the obituary from the New York Times. What is the point of laboring the final moments of a man (suffering from dementia) who lived like a king? GT

You are absolutely free to add material about those topics here. Originally this article was only a list of random quotes and still is nothing more than a stub. Correct way to proceed is to add information to it, not delete relevant pieces just because you don't happen to like them. This is supposed to be an encyclopedia article, not some tribute page dedicated to Mr. Livermore. It is not my purpose to "attack" him or his legacy in any way, it just seems from reading various sources about him that he was one of those men whose genius was tinted with (slight) shades of mental instability. I haven't read his book or Reminisces of a Stock Operator (yet), so I might be in fact wrong. However, when I see a new user doing a curious deletion of material with rationale that does not make much sense, it does not inspire any confidence that I'm wrong ;-) You should read Wikipedia:Neutral point of view and other relevant pages before replying. jni 09:25, 2 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Livermore's last wife was married four times, and each of her husbands committed suicide. Jesse's suicide was number 5. Any article about Livermore (or his wife) would be significant just for this fact alone, never mind how he lived his life or his investment advice. Santamoly (talk) 03:56, 17 August 2012 (UTC)

Short Selling

It is not strictly true that Jesse Livermore made all of his fortunes from short selling. There were many times when he was long of the Markets and accumulated substantial amounts in being so. These facts are available in the book that he wrote.Carlos Von Plonker 17:24, 16 October 2005 (UTC)
