Fixes needed

Looks ok, layout and prose ok at first glance. points to follow. cheers, Casliber (talk · contribs) 11:02, 11 July 2007 (UTC)

Isaacs had initially planned on becoming a lawyer, following his more traditionally-inclined brothers who are a doctor, lawyer, and accountant, and, in 1982, entered Bristol University to read law. - ungainly, try "Isaacs had initially planned on a career in law, following his more traditionally-inclined brothers who became a doctor, lawyer, and accountant; thus in 1982, commenced reading Law at Bristol University." or something. cheers, Casliber (talk · contribs) 11:06, 11 July 2007 (UTC)
OK, done. Jacklee 17:54, 12 July 2007 (UTC)
"There is a streak of cruelty in me that comes from having a quite competitive background. There were four boys in the house and we were pretty unkind to each other. I've been bullied a lot, sometimes by my brothers, sometimes at school. It wasn't a great thing to be a Jewish teenager when the National Front were passing leaflets around the school."
- a long quote but a good one. Would look better in a quotation box. However tehn the text before it is a bit meagre. Consider embellishing a bit and adding a bit of early biographical stuff before.
Added a bit more information about Isaac's childhood. Think the quote is all right where it is, though. Jacklee 17:54, 12 July 2007 (UTC)
Jason made an unnervingly memorable impression as a fictional sadistic British army officer,... - comes across as POV. Got to mention instead that it was critically accliamed and mention which reviewers and the adjectives they used (not quotes but general idea and would need an inline ref for FA...)
Toned down the comment (which was probably from some film review). Jacklee 17:54, 12 July 2007 (UTC)
the actor was not content to be typecast in the historical-scum mold. - huh? I'm not sure what this means
Rephrased the sentence. Jacklee 17:54, 12 July 2007 (UTC)
Awards and nominations - may be better as a paragraph and discussing nominations and awards, was he favourite - who won - add more colour and depth to section. Not a biggie though.
I don't have any further information about this at the moment, unfortunately. Will leave the section as it is. Jacklee 17:54, 12 July 2007 (UTC)
Personal life - lacks some detail - there are things you can go into which are not too personal - eg any witty stuff about supporting Liverpool FC. More on acting stuff?
Haven't got any additional information at the moment, I'm afraid. Jacklee 17:54, 12 July 2007 (UTC)
Lead has to summarise article. Maybe mention born Liverpudlian but lived London.
Added to the lead the fact that Isaacs was raised in Liverpool and London. I think the rest of the lead already adequately summarizes the article. Jacklee 17:54, 12 July 2007 (UTC)

Ultimately with these tweaks is ok for GA. Not too far off a crack at FA - before that - try to get more colour - eg more on acting technique - I never knew he was a northerner, always heard his accent from Harry Potter...where was the family from, was englsh his first language as a kid etc. Politics/causes etc. Have to be careful with BLP and if in doubt leave it out.

Thanks for reviewing this article. I think I'll stick to getting it to GA status first – at the moment I don't have any of the additional information about Isaacs that you suggested adding to the article. Found an article stating that his great-grandparents were from Eastern Europe, but it doesn't say exactly where. Since his family has been in the UK for four generations, I'm quite sure English is his first language. My responses to your comments are set out above. Cheers, Jacklee 17:54, 12 July 2007 (UTC)

GA passed

That's fine - the others are minor and wouldn't preclude GA status. Still, with not too much more work could be worth a crack at FA.cheers, Casliber (talk · contribs) 01:37, 13 July 2007 (UTC)

Thanks very much! Cheers, Jacklee 03:43, 13 July 2007 (UTC)
