List of Mayors

The List of Mayors is in need of some work. I am sure that Charles B. Magnuson was not Mayor from 1967 - 1997. Also Sam Teresi was listed as mayor from 1997 to present. He first took office in 2000. There does not seem to be a lot of information regarding this subject available online. I may have some other info that will make this more accurate, but would appreciate any help in getting this right. Wheasley 12:51, 15 April 2007 (UTC)

Found some information for Steven Carlson. The Ahlstrom entry is based on the second Carlson ref, which shows him as mayor elect. Wheasley 13:49, 15 April 2007 (UTC)

Found some further information regarding Carolyn Seymour. The date listed in the ref was the election date, I believe she would have been sworn in early the following year.

Speaking about election dates/date of swearing in, I am guessing that many of the dates are based on election dates, not date of swearing in. More research to be done. Wheasley 14:07, 15 April 2007 (UTC)

When I knew Dick Kimball, he was indeed an English teacher at JHS and the head of the local Republican Party, so it does not at all surprise me to see him on the list of mayors.Wrstewart (talk) 04:00, 6 January 2010 (UTC)

Dick Kimball (the JHS teacher) was indeed a mayor of Jamestown. I will attempt to dig up the dates. (RJD)

Wikipedians

I am from Jamestown and would like to do my best to edit this page. Are there any other Wikipedians with registered accounts that are from Jamestown or are knowledgeable about it? Lucille Ball

Jamestown is a relatively small town whose primary claim to fame is not only as the birthplace of Lucille Ball but the childhood home of her character on I Love Lucy. The people consider it important to the city's heritage, as evidenced by both the museum and their "Lucy-Desi Days." It certainly deserves mention in the header section. A fleeting reference in the notable residents section, I think, doesn't provide this claim to fame appropiate justice. It's something for which Jamestown is widely known. Lucille Ball graduated from Jamestown High School, but her home was initially in Celoron, a suburb of Jamestown. THe current Lucy Tours take the buses from Jamestown through Celoron and down LUCY LANE, a street renamed in her honor. She attended elementary school in Celoron. antique images

Why are all the images in this article a century or more old? The most recent seems to be the one from 1914 in the infobox. It's very strange, as if the city no longer actually exists and the only evidence of it is a bunch of very old, faded postcards.

Does no one in Jamestown own a camera? Is the city so unattractive now that no one wants the rest of the world to know how it looks? Jamestown's residents seem to be very fond of it, so why no current images of it? What it looks like now is more important than how it looked 100 or more years ago. A few antique images would be okay, but not all.

It's not too unusual to find small articles with no images about relatively obscure places, but this is a relatively large article with a substantial number of images—all very old. "... 'twas strange, 'twas passing strange ..."--Jim10701 (talk) 20:20, 25 December 2012 (UTC)
