Innacurate citation of ancestry
The article states Getty was Scots-Irish. However a recent publication by the Clan MacPherson society in ‘Creag Dubh The Annual of the Clan MacPherson Association, no 71, p62 The McPherson ancestry of the Getty Family’ shows his MacPherson Scots side immigrated as Scots not Ulster Scots. It states p62 paragraph 2;
“Going back from Sarah Anne, the Getty family can trace their McPherson heritage to William McPherson who was born in Scotland circa 1698, and his wife Elizabeth Jane. Their son John born in 1743 in Lancaster Co Pennsylvania was the father of John Paul Getty’s grandmother Sarah Anne McPherson.”
The family was not Scots Irish but immigrant Scots diaspora. Edited to show this with publication sources.Uthican (talk) 12:25, 2 March 2019 (UTC)
