Quoting
editCan anyone confirm that it's okay to have the full text here? I'm not a copyright expert. --Alynna 00:02, 16 June 2007 (UTC)

It probably is fine to have the full text here. I remember laughing with work colleagues at this in Ericssons in 1991...Robin48gx (talk) 16:27, 5 March 2019 (UTC)

Don't lose the manual
editThe section Don't lose the manual was as good as the other sections already cited in the article. It went roughly like this...
Don't lose the manual. Why are we saying this? Isn't it obvious that you shouldn't lose the manual? That's what we thought too. But then we got calls from people saying something like "You don't know me but I bought a copy of Easyflow from Fly-By-Night Software and now I can't find the manual, will you send me another one for free?" At first we went along with this. But then we got a bit more hard-nosed. I mean, copying the disks is trivial but copying the manual requires a great deal more work. So now we had to try to distinguish between genuine cases ("the dog chewed it up") and the merely unscrupulous looking for free software. What do other companies do about this? We called General Motors and said we had misplaced the engine of our Chevy Camaro. That call didn't yield much useful information. Well... Cars aren't software. We called Borland and said we had misplaced the manual for C++. They said, write a letter to our Lost Manual Committee. What a great idea, we thought. So we set up our own Lost Manual Committee. The Committee meets once a month. It doesn't send out many manuals, but it seems to spend a lot of time lying on the floor laughing and saying "Wow, get a load of this one". Don't lose the manual. In case you decide to ignore our advice on this, new manuals are available without going through the Committee for $49.95.
It should be noted that at the time, EasyFLow sold for $50. It was probably worth it just for the manual. Memories! But of we can source the exact text, it would be worth including in the article IMO. Andrewa (talk) 12:38, 28 December 2022 (UTC)
