New articles on PFW and IUFW?

An IP editor recently changed IPFW's name in the intro to "Purdue University Fort Wayne (PFW)," reflecting IPFW's new identity. I wonder, though, if this is really the best way forward for this article. IPFW is essentially splitting back into two separate schools—Purdue University Fort Wayne and Indiana University Fort Wayne (source). I would be in favor of leaving this article focused on the now dissolved IPFW and creating new articles on PFW and IUFW. It is true that the bulk of IPFW's departments and campus will remain with PFW, but a few schools and a portion of the campus will become IUFW. Making this article solely about PFW really gives IUFW the short end of the stick and also obscures IPFW's 50 year history as a joint institution of Purdue and IU. This is admittedly not something I've thought through thoroughly, so I would be interested in hearing any other editors' thoughts. Bnng (talk) 23:13, 22 June 2018 (UTC)

Absolutely agree with your take on this situation. That said, there's one major constant between IPFW and PFW—the IPFW athletic program transferred lock, stock, and barrel to PFW. (Which makes sense, seeing that around 90% of the former IPFW student body was enrolled in academic programs that moved to PFW.) Matter of fact, IUFW won't have an athletic program at all, at least not initially. — Dale Arnett (talk) 02:53, 1 July 2018 (UTC)
Update. I have created new articles on Purdue University Fort Wayne and Indiana University Fort Wayne. They aren't great articles (mostly just copy and paste jobs from this article), but at least they exist, which should hopefully cut down on the good faith edits trying to change the focus of this article from IPFW to PFW. In retrospect, this turned out to be the wrong approach, IMO: IPFW was renamed PFW. www.ipfw.edu redirects to www.pfw.edu. The PFW well developed web site talks about its history since 1964 and its 60,000+ alumni. Meanwhile the IUFW website talks about its 5 offerings in the one building that they lease from the PFW folks (Neff). The PFW page should be merged back into IPFW with an explanation in the intro about the rebranding. KelleyCook (talk) 17:33, 16 April 2019 (UTC)
