Single

Does the song's official wide release not make it a single? Like, back when it was just floating around on SoundCloud then I can see that not making it a single but considering this has received a proper release to all streaming and digital retailers I don't see how this isn't a single. It's not even there as an unlocked track of an album or an exclusive to one platform or anything. Multiple sources call it a single as well, including the Vulture article on the page already. As it is, SZA says it's a single and when she refers to it as it not being a single and fans making it a single, I believe that refers to the fact that it was originally not a single (when it was just on SoundCloud) and was made a single following the song's popularity on TikTok, which would be the official release. @CAMERAwMUSTACHE: Almost all the sources in the article describe it as a single, and the song is being added to radio in the US and thus meets WP:SINGLE? criteria. I really don't see why not. 22:01, 15 December 2021 (UTC)

The song has been serviced to US Urban and Rhythmic radio stations, thus declaring it an official single. Not to mention SZA confirmed multiple times on her Twitter account that a music video is on the way and the song is "now a single" due to the overwhelming support. There should be no reason why this song isn’t classified as a single after these facts. Dangerousalex (talk) 13:04, 23 December 2021 (UTC)

Hi Dangerousalex, where did she declare it "multiple times" is "now a single"? And a music video doesn't mean a song is automatically a single. Also, if you could please provide sources that the song was sent to radio, that'd be appreciated. To the other users who commented, a source describing a song as a single is not sufficient to have it listed as a single. CAMERAwMUSTACHE, you make a good point with regards to what SZA said, but I feel as though we need more clarity. I'm open to more discussion, and if a consensus is reached, then good. Orphaned references in I Hate U (SZA song)

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of I Hate U (SZA song)'s orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 19:40, 5 January 2022 (UTC)
