I was given a porters chair years ago. It was covered in a light colored quilted silk. It was VERY comfortable. The back was similar to a tapered 'coffin' shape with the head of the coffin being the 'roof' of the chair. The story I was told it was from a southern plantation and kept in the hall near the door for the porter to work. Jack (talk) 01:31, 27 April 2012 (UTC)
