Goofs

"Homer has smoked cigars in the past with no problem, yet he coughs a couple of times while smoking Patty and Selma's cigarettes." was removed as a goof. Cigars are not usually fully inhaled, meaning the smoke does not often enter the lung. This explains Homer's reaction to smoking cigarettes. KomradeDave 06:15, 22 February 2007 (UTC)

Cultural references

• The Beatles album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band is mentioned by Barney Gumble at the start of the episode.
• Bart talking with his socket-puppet is a reference to Señor Wences show.
• Bart drinks Tab while he dances just like Jennifer Beals did in Flashdance. Also Lenny and Carl drink Zima.
• Mel Brooks's old radio show, the 2000 Year Old Man is briefly mentioned, and incorrectly named as "the 2000-Pound Man thing" and "the 2000-Dollar Man thing". Brooks claims that he hates Carl Reiner.
• When talking to Mel Brooks, Homer mentions that he has seen Young Frankenstein and loved it, and that it "scared the hell out of me!" to which Brooks replies confusedly, "Umm... thanks."
• Lisa is seen wearing hockey gear, a reference to "Lisa on Ice".

Cultural references

Bart talking with his hand socket-puppet is a reference to Señor Wences show. Bart's ballet dancing abilities are a reference to the movie Billie Elliot.

The above is indeed sourced, but it isn't really worth it to keep it in the article and have a one-sentence Cultural references subsection. I think with a Reception and also Themes section instead, that will be fine. Also, might expand later on using info from the sources listed in Further reading.
