Neighborhood of this airport?

edit

@Station1: If it was indeed on the site of the Bulova watch factory, then that means it could have also been in in East Elmhurst (north of 31st Avenue). Google Maps includes the Bulova factory as part of both East Elmhurst and Jackson Heights, while The Encyclopedia of New York City (2nd edition, page 389) says Early in the twenty first century, the Bulova Watch Company and British Airways maintained offices in East Elmhurst. However, Queens Chronicle says that Holmes Airport also stretched to near where 77-15 Northern Blvd. is now, which puts this squarely in Jackson Heights. It appears that Holmes Airport is located partially in that intermediate area overlapping with both Jackson Heights and East Elmhurst, with the majority of the site solely in Jackson Heights. epicgenius (talk) 14:06, 30 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

As you know, the boundaries of neighborhoods in New York are notoriously imprecise and flexible. They change over time and according to the source. Post Office boundaries can be different from Community Board boundaries which are different from historical boundaries, etc. Our East Elmhurst article says it's only east of Junction Boulevard, which is different from Google Maps. I think your analysis is correct, but unless we have a source that specifically says the airport was in East Elmhurst, I think, per WP:SYNTH, we should leave that out of the article. Your addition of the exact boundaries, citing the map, is a good addition, though, for someone needing the precise location. Station1 (talk) 23:18, 30 December 2019 (UTC)Reply
Station1, it makes sense to not include East Elmhurst for now. Thanks for your response. epicgenius (talk) 01:00, 31 December 2019 (UTC)Reply
