Clonal interference and self fertilization and the ratchet
editAs far as I can see, clonal interference is an example of the ratchet, and therefote also of the Hill-Robertson effect. Chromosomes can accumulate mutations that then cause a ratchet effect if there is no recombination between the loci. Likewise the same effect can occur in diploid genotypes when there is no outcrossing, as in the case of clonal reproduction and also in the case of complete self-fertilization. I have refrained from editing this page as I am cited in it, but just wanted to point this out. Felsenst (talk) 15:45, 21 December 2020 (UTC)
