FashionPedia?

edit

Well that was quite interesting actually ... BUT: it's not encyclopedic (not in any fashion ;P), I would prefer this article in a fashion magazine.

That is one of the most hideously written articles I've ever read on Wikipedia. "High rise denims are here to stay, so make sure that you purchase a pair that looks flattering on you." Ugh, really? I don't believe I've ever felt so insulted reading a Wikipedia article. I'd rather this page be deleted then left looking as it is. 70.29.250.165 (talk) 14:47, 1 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

Cleaned up

edit

I removed most of the gossip magazine jabbering, which didn't leave much of the article. I don't know if the article is necessary at all, but as en:Wikipedia has an article about nearly everything, why not. - At least, it convinced me never ever to buy a high-rise jeans. ;) Tubifex (talk) 12:50, 5 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

POV removed ... again

edit

Because the whole article, together with the complete mass of unnecessary pictures, has been re-installed without any improvement, I deleted it again. For an encyclopedia, and this is what Wikipedia is meant to be, it is better NOT to say anything at all as to deliver such a biased, unprofessional wannabe-fashion columnist article like this one. I've read better essays in our high school newspaper. Some examples of what doesn't belong here and will get removed again:

  • "Also, high rise jeans is not for everybody, ..."

Wikipedia is NOT an instruction manual or to tell someone what to wear or do.

  • "... if one's figure does not permit to wear them, then they are better off sticking to mid rise jeans."

Same as above. An encyclopedia is not for telling people what they, in the opinion of some author, have or have not to do or to wear.

  • "It looks best on women with close to average waist-to-hip ratio, approximately being .69" ...

Again, POV.

  • "It accentuates the curves of a woman and makes her look taller."

Proof? Citations?

  • "Since high waisted jeans start at the narrowest point of your torso, it makes the legs seem as long as a supermodel's. Paired with high heels, this denim style can work for an evening out."

Write it in your blog.

Maybe these articles may help:

Poorly-written and unencyclopedic

edit

The article as it stands is disjointed, skimpy, poorly-constructed and full of jargon that does not meet the requirements of an encyclopedia. Improvement is needed otherwise I shall nominate it for deletion.--Jeanne Boleyn (talk) 16:47, 29 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

Image improvement needed

edit

Please look for images to replace those (at least two) on the page at present that illustrate high (short) legged pants/trousers/leggings. This is causing confusion about the difference between High-rise (fashion) and Highwaters (a.k.a. Capri pants). A whole slew of redirects pertaining to "High[ |-]water[s]" have been redirected, possibly mistakenly, to High-rise (fashion), seemingly because of what is illustrated here. See Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2019 December 6#Highwaters for details and input.  — SMcCandlish ¢ 😼  19:08, 6 December 2019 (UTC)Reply
