I am seeking of the integrity of Heptane after it has been filtered thru a 25-Micron filter. Will the Heptane slowly lose its integrity over each filteration or not? Also is there a shelf life of Heptane, days, weeks, months?

Thanks,

Brian

2,2-Dimethylpentane (neoheptane), (H3C)3–C–CH2–CH2–CH3

Dear all,

If I'm correct, the defenition of "neo" in chemistry, is "A C-atom surrounded by 4 other C-aromt".
Therefore "Heptane" has 3 different "neoheptane's"

1) 2,2-Dimethylpentane, (H3C)3–C–CH2–CH2–CH3
2) 3,3-Dimethylpentane, H3C–CH2–C(CH3)2–CH2–CH3
3) 2,2,3-Trimethylbutane, CH3–C(CH3)2–CH(CH3)–CH3

All these above molecules, contain a C-atom surrounded by 4 other C-atoms. Therefore "NeoHeptane" does not specify a single molecule structure, and does not exist.

Thats why i removed the name "neoheptane" after 2,2Dimethylpentane.

A search for "Bestine" leads to this page. However, "Bestine" is not a type of solvent, it is a brand name of the Union Rubber Company, which also makes rubber cement products under the brand "Best-Test". I cannot find articles on any of these, and there really should be at least one. Union Rubber makes most of the rubber cement products in the US -- possibly in the world -- to the extent that when they were changing owners in 2016, it became nearly impossible to get rubber cement in any store, for almost 2 years.

I suggest that a Wikipedia page is needed for "Union Rubber Company", and that "Best-Test" and "Bestine" should redirect to that page, rather than here. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.89.176.249 (talk) 20:16, 17 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
