I agree with FunkMonk's merge proposal. This article is a mixture of half-truths and original research:

Hector was the first to name the taxon Ichthyosaurus australis in 1874 and Ichthyosaurus pottsi in 1886, and Lydekker then created a substitute name Ichthyosaurus hectori in 1889
As FunkMonk pointed out, the vernacular names are fabricated
The taxon was never referred to the Shastasauridae; the remains are not diagnostic
The claims of exceeding a blue whale in size are ludicrous and do not appear anywhere in the literature
