I'm a little intrigued by some of the statements in this page, in particular that the Havana is a British breed. The GCCF and FIFe both don't recognize Havana as a separate breed; it's an Oriental Short Hair. Yes, possibly there was a very similar cat in the 1890s (Brown Siamese? There are people who believe that might have been a Burmese), but what does that have to do with the current US breed?
This is also the first I've heard of Havanas being endangered. Certainly internationally they can be born in any Oriental Short Hair litter.

- Chestnut Oriental Shorthairs and Havana Browns are not the same cat. As you note, GCCF doesn't recognize them as a seperate breed, this is because there aren't any in the UK. The stock that produced the Havana Brown (called Chestnut Brown in the UK at the time) was bred back into the Siamese line and is indeed no longer a seperate breed. ref: http://www.cfainc.org/breeds/profiles/articles/havana.html Merenta (talk) 16:03, 4 September 2009 (UTC)
