Talk:Haufe Buzzer 2

Latest comment: 6 years ago by InternetArchiveBot in topic External links modified

I am going to query the name. it would make more sense as the Buzzard and not Buzzer as all the other Haufe aircraft are named after raptors. The problem is allthe references I can find, except one, listit as the Buzzer. Doesw anyone have a registration for one which I can check against the FAA registry? If that comes up with buzzer then it more than likelyshould be that!Petebutt (talk) 13:06, 26 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

The three cited reliable refs all indicate Haufe called it the Buzzer 2, after the original Buzzer motorglider. The FAA registration, which is listed as a ref, indicates it as a "Hawk-Model-4" which isn't surprising as Haufe also designed the Haufe Dale Hawk 2 in the 1930s and this aircraft was probably based on the Hawk or used parts from an old Hawk lying around. The FAA dates in that ref indicate that he probably registered the aircraft long before he first flew it or named it (1975 vs 1979). It is very hard, and also mostly pointless, to change registration names after an aircraft is registered. My understanding is that Haufe called both motorglider designs "Buzzer" because of the sound of the two-stroke engine installed produced. I have not found any ref at all that uses the name Buzzard for this aircraft, but if you can locate an WP:RS then this can be added back in as an alternate or at least uncertain name. - Ahunt (talk) 13:19, 26 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
