I object against this hasty merge. Hamilton's principle is one form of the principle of least action. Maupertuis' principle is another (and older) one. -- Crowsnest (talk) 20:44, 21 April 2012 (UTC)

I can't see what is the difference with the Principle of least action. If there's a difference , it isn't pointed out in the article. If there isn't, it should be merged Esponenziale (talk) 23:40, 27 February 2016 (UTC)

Updated Link to the referenced discussion on WikiProject Physics from 2012. I cannot find anything that would explain the alleged difference between the two principles. In fact, the articles seem to describe the same thing. Theowoll (talk) 22:30, 10 March 2018 (UTC)
