Mr Hughes

edit

I've never seen any suggestion that Jim Herd-era WCW were that booked ahead that they had a heel opponent for a babyface champion Luger for this show. There's no source and frankly I don't believe it. WCW's plan for the early 90s was always face Sting vs heel Luger for the World title in a back and forth feud - eventually Vader replaced Luger. More likely is that originally Flair was going to get the spot that went to Windham of getting double crossed by Hughes and Race and ending up as a babyface.165.225.81.100 (talk) 16:00, 2 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

(The material relating to Mr Hughes originates from this edit of the original Halloween Havoc article. 165.225.81.100 (talk) 16:26, 2 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
Possibly this stems from this story. However this would have involved Hughes turning babyface on Lex and Harley before taking the belt off Lex temporarily (sort of á la Ted DiBiase and Virgil). As the articles states, Lex rejected the idea. The material deleted from the article is still deeply dubious however since Luger and "Big Cat" Curtis Hughes had already feuded over the US title in 1990 and Luger had plainly won that feud, so Hughes would not have been an ideal heel opponent to help build up Luger as a babyface champion.165.225.81.100 (talk) 10:21, 3 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
