Talk:Hair dye stripping

Hello!

So I thought overall you explained the chemical process of what it is to remove color from hair. There are just a few things that I think should be edited on this page is the terminology used in the article. Let's start with the title, "Hair Dye Stripping" is not the terminology used in salon professional settings. You would want to use " Hair color remover" instead. I know the terminology isn't completely different but during my time going cosmetology school at the Tony and Guy Academy in Phoenix, Arizona, we were always told to use the word color instead of dye because we aren't killing the hair. We as professionals are taught to lighten or remove color from the hair strand gradually and the least evasive as possible. It really comes down to how you word something like this process because you don't want to freak the client out who is having the procedure done by using aggressive words like dye and stripping. They need to have faith and confidence and neither one of those words give most people positive feelings.

Additionally, in the Notes for usage section, it mentions that you should fill the hair after removing the color from the hair. This is not always the case because it depends on how light you lighten the hair and what the desired end result will. I would like to elaborate in this section more with something like this, "Depending on the desired result, you may have to fill the hair follicle before depositing the final desired color on the hair. If the lightened/color removed hair is lighter than a level 7 on a scale from 1-10 with 1 being black and 10 being white, then you will want to fill the hair if you wish to go a darker than a level 6 on the same scale as your final result color. Now if you are a level 4-7 after removing color and you wish to be a dark brown or black color, you do not need to fill the hair before applying the final result color. This all depends on how well the color was removed from the hair.

And finally, in the caution section, I would just add, "It is highly recommended to consult with a licensed cosmetologist before attempting to lighten or remove the color from your hair.

With being in the hair industry for the last 11 years, I feel that these changes would benefit the article about removing color from your hair in hopes that even if one person sees this article, it may save them time and money from permanently damaging their hair.
