Talk:Green's function for the three-variable Laplace equation

Merging issue edit

I have addressed this issue on the talk page of the Greens' function web page. It seems to me that since there is a one to one correspondence for partial differential equations and for Green's functions of partial differential equations there should be separate pages for each Green's function. They all have their own specific properties and behavior and identities relating them. Examples include, in three variables, Green's functions for the Helmholtz equation, the wave equation, the diffusion (heat) equation, biharmonic equation, etc. HowiAuckland 02:34, 16 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Greek letter rendering issue edit

I created this page earlier today and I have noticed that there seems to be a formatting problem with Greek letters when put into math mode in the middle of regular text. Two examples

1)

puts the wrong phi in the text (it puts a varphi) and not a regular phi like it puts in equations

2)

puts something that looks like a Y and not a small greek gamma.

Sorry, I don't know. If no one else stops by here who can help you, consider typing {{helpme}} at your talk page and someone will stop by there to help you. Pan Dan 04:09, 22 October 2006 (UTC)Reply
Maybe use varphi in the equations? Or, you could use   intext. That is <math>\,\!\phi</math>. Here \, will make a small space, and \! will cancel that space. This will make the render use latex for rendering. Same thing with   (vs.  ). Haseldon 08:22, 11 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Take a look at Wikipedia:Manual of Style (mathematics) for a discussion of these and other related issues. Michael Hardy 01:38, 13 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thank you Michael Haseldon and Hardy, I have implemented the solution to fix the Greek letters. HowiAuckland 02:39, 10 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Add a subindex to the Green's Function in motivation. edit

To notify the reader that the Green's function refers to a different operator than the one introduced on the introduction, it confused me at first. Sistemx (talk) 13:32, 6 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

Or, use the same Green's function but add the missing variables, that means instead of
